Chaps,

My skills at over clocking know no starts so I would greatly appreciate some help and guidance on what I need to do to get my current gaming PC flying. I bought the bits that should give me the right platform and have it all built and running nicely stable so would really appreciate a step by step on what I need to do to take this to a sensible over clock.

The PC:

1 x Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Mobo
1 x Intel i7 930
1 x Corsair H50 Water Cooler
1 x G.Skill 6GB 2000Mhz
2 x Intel X25 Gen 2 80GB SSD's
1 x 150BG Raptor
1 x 600GB Maxtor
1 x 120GB Maxtor
1 x LG 22x DVDRW
1 x LG 22 x Blue Ray
1 x Asus 5870
1 x Corsair 800D Case
1 x Corsair 850W PSU
1 x Dell Ultrasharp 27" Monitor
1 x Windows 7 64 Bit Professional

A I said all installed and working fine, but what are the tweaks I need to do to get the most from it without it going bang?

Cheers
Housey

hey housey, for what its worth i'm in the same boat as yourself-very limited knowledge of ocing. just wanted to say that what i've discovered from these forums is that the guys/gals here are all very helpfull in pretty much all aspects, however i get the impression that they take a very dim view of requests for 'step by step' guides  you're more likely to get help if ya take the time to learn a little bit about the process yourself and then ask for pointers rather than a 'please talk me through this' or in other words-just tell me what to do cause i can't be bothered ;)

Basicly I would read through some threads first that ppl have posted and check the beginners guide out - really helpfull I was in the same boat also great community this though they will help you for sure, someone always tries :)

Overclocking is all trial and error in other words one persons settings with the same setup might not be the same for you, so you have to mess around abit to see what can be done.

I would start with downloading the basic overclocking programs like CPU-Z / Prime95 / Core temp etc these will all help you in your progress to achive a good stable Overclock.

But this forum is loaded with information on what you need mate, just take some time to have a browse and I'm sure the help will follow XD

What if I offer em money? ;)

I will go and have a nose, I'm just a 'make it easy' sort, but I can understand peoples view of 'make the effort' too.

lol, money talks for most ppl - but with overclocking like I mentioned its not as simple as -this- will work, its more -this- should work and then you have to have a certain degree of knowledge yourself to tweak/change settings and understand what they are asking you to do if they help you :p

If you dont know what they are asking you to do, then the help isnt gonna -help is it lol, thats all I meant anyway :p because I dont know your level of ability when it comes to these things.

No offence meant btw. maybe this will help http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17949771

Most of it makes some sense, I have a view of what it's all about but I've not done the leg work to understand it fully as the interest to me is the end game not the route there, which I guess makes me a little different to the norm on this site. I don't want to know how in detail, I just want it there! :D
