Ok woke up this morning, after 5 mins my computer decided to shut down. Every time I powered my computer it gets to windows loading bar & powers off completely. If I leave the computer a few hours I get 5 mins then shuts down again.
Any ideas would be gratefully received, I thought maybe a psu problem but unfortunately I havent got an additional psu to assess it.

thanks but not overclocking problem as the first thing I did was set the bios to default, so looks like either psu or mobo then

You could try safe mode but normally if it's a software issue windows will BSOD and restart, not shut down.
I would boot into BIOS and check your temperatures, perhaps even leave it at the BIOS screen and see if the PC stays up. Almost sounds like a fan somewhere has stopped working, your system is overheating and shutting itself down.

ok thanks again, not software prob as it does it in safe mode also plus no software changes have been done in past month or so. Temps are fine 34 deg in bios, checked all fans working fine.

was upstairs while pc was in windows, came downstairs moved the mouse & it shutdown. Tried to boot again got as far as loading bar on windows & shut down again. Left it for a few hours managed to get into windows in safe mode 5 mins later shut down again. Rebooted computer in normal mode got as far as loading bar again & shutdown. When I leave for any length of time I can get into windows for maybe 5 mins any subsequent tries result in shutting down at loading bar.

yes m8.......whatever it is degrades over time....sorta stumped and dont want to fork out for a new psu and its the mobo :)

That is exactly what happened when I got an Overclocking error because not enough Voltage was reaching my CPU.

You have already stated its not an overclocking problem, so I have no idea what is wrong.
