Hey all,

I'll get straight to the point, everytime I try open IE7, it loads, but doesn't show on my screen. I have to go to task manager and end it, at the load up of Windows, I get the message 'Microsoft .NET 1.1.exe has stopped working' something like that. Everytime I search in Firefox, my explorer.exe restarts.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate, SP1. Could it be SP1, and I have to reformat?

Thank you.

PS. I checked for Viruses/Spyware, got 1 Virus, but got rid of it. I don't know, everything else was working fine yesterday. Haven't downloaded anything recently either.

So this only affects IE7? Can't see it being Vista SP1 as others would have had the same problem.

What virus was it and what av are you running? What did you use to check for spyware?

Ah I notice FF is also causing problems? Is it FF2 or FF3?

I'd be tempted to uninstall .NET1.1 and then reinstall it and see if that helps.

It's effecting Firefox 3, and IE 7. I go to google, type what I want to search, then as soon as I hit enter. Windows Explorer stops working. And needs to restart, I'm using NOD32, and Ad-Aware for spyware. I've tried nearly everything I know.

I'll uninstall the .NET Framework and I'll see if that helps.

Thank you.

EDIT: Now I get a message, WLLoginProxy.exe has stopped working. Think my OS is dying :(

Well the WLLoginProxy.exe message has gone. However still got the same problem, even after uninstalling .NET Framework 1.1, I still got the message when I logged into Windows. Weird.

Can't do a System Restore, as I never enabled it. Don't know what else I can do, apart from a reformat.

EDIT: I remember uninstalling something from my programs list. I was cleaning up some programs I didn't use, I remember it saying something along the lines of, if you uninstall, other programs won't work properly. Doh :(, it began with A, think it's normal to have it in Vista.

If it was normal to have it in Vista then it shouldn't be an uninstallable option.

Does Vista work like XP in that you can do a repair install? Might work. :)

Hmm yeah, could work. Tried enabling services in safe mode, don't know what's up. I do a search in an Internet Browser, and explorer.exe restarts, lol really funny.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: When I enter the search I want to in both IE7 and FF3, I get the connection interrupted message. Hmm.

Got shot of NOD. Problem still occurs, something is conflicting with explorer.exe when I do a search in both web browsers. I've tried disabling/enabling services, nothing is working.

Weird, everything seems to work now without a flaw? I'm getting scared now, but hopefully that's over and done with.

Yeah I did restart. And downloaded the Optional Sound Package for Vista that was in the update. Then I started both IE7 and FF, and went and did a search.

Worked without any flaws.

EDIT: I've noticed that, to get to search flawlessley in any search engien without windows explorer restarting, I need to first visit a popular torrent site. Why is this? I've checked for spyware haven't got any.

Spybot found quite a few entries, thanks for that. Everything seems ok at the moment. Haven't had any problems.

Excellente. :) I'm not really a fan of Ad-aware. The new versions I mean. Runs processes that aren't really necessary considering you could use SpywareBlaster to block spyware passively and also use Spybot. ;)
