Help Samsung 840 Missing Space

Hi All,

Just recently purchased this system

I'm new to SSD but I seem to have a large amount of space missing, could someone help explain.

Currently showing 42.7gb free of 111gb
Total amount of installed data is 39.1. So in theory should have about 72gb spare not 42gb.

Any ideas how to recover missing space?

Could try disabling hibernation if you haven't done so already, not really needed for SSDs due to boot times: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730

Should recover a good 10gb of space or so.

did you clone your old drive to it? if you did did you check the box to make use of all available space in the cloning program?

Thanks for the quick responses. I didn't clone my previous drive. I've just disabled hibernation and managed to claw back a bit, now showing 54.5gb. Just another 20 odd to find, any other good suggestions lol!

reduce your pagefile,if your running 16gb of memory or 8gb your pagefile will be asmuch as your memory amount

so reduce it to 2gb imo,that will save you another 14gb or 6gb of ssd space

Control Panel, System
Advanced System Settings
Click Settings under performance
Goto Advanced Tab
Click Change on Virtual Memory
Click Custom Size and alter to how you want to set it.
