OK I am tearing my hair out trying to fix this. I used to have Windows XP on my computer, recently converted to Windows XP RC1 Beta, hate it . Things don't work with it because drivers aren't updated, my speakers, scanner, itunes goes all black, don't like it.
The problem is I want to reinstall Windows XP and I have a Seagate Barracuda SATA hard disk. I have read into the many frustrating problems of this where people do not have drivers and they have to use the old floppy disk or make a slipstream cd. I downloaded my SATA drivers, there are no official seagate ones so I downloaded them from www.asrock.com. Before this I got to the Windows XP screen after pressing F6, and then it told me it could not detect my hard drive.
I got my old floppy disk drive out which was a pain, hooked it up and installed drivers on the floppy disk. I booted up the Windows XP disc, pressed F6 and installed the drivers. It was all going well and then it asked the same message again about not being able to detect my hard disk after I had installed the SATA drivers.
I also tried my motherboard drivers on a slipstream disc but without the SATA drivers before as I could not find them but I'm not sure if that will work and don't want to waste burning DVD's. My hard drive is working fine as it still works fine in Windows Vista and was working well before then. I'm reallly frustrated at the minute, going to calm down
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
My system:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
NVIDIA nforce2 motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160GB
Geforce 6600GT
Antec 350W Power Supply
Edit: Oh yeah and 1GB of RAM, can't remember make :x
