In the next
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8233794&postcount=18 you show us an image of the windows firewall being active.
Disable the windows firewall if you have any other firewall installed.

Probally yes. XP Home and XP Pro are an awkward mismatch.Mel_P said:This is the possible problem?

To make life easiest...
Make sure both in same workgroup.
Setup the SAME username on both XP Pro and XP Home.
Setup this user account with a PASSWORD - identical on both machines.
(Note - by default, XP Pro must have usernames with passwords for network access.)
Make sure your shares are set for "everyone" to have access.
Address the machines from the Run... prompt using the IP Address as \\192.168.1.101 (As this avoids the mess that is MS Networking)
Read the other thread I linked to above - probally get a few hints there.
Also a little question... have you put details into the DNS Suffix field within the network settings? Or your router? I am wondering where the "alshamil.net.ae" is coming from.... Are you actually in UAE? Or is this a typo from somewhere?
Just checking you are there and therefore this is correct info. I have known people put all kinds of weird things into boxes, and the PC starts thinking it;s on the wrong side of the planet. LOL.backtothefuture said:cheers for the suggestions
yes am in the UAE, hence the al.shamil.ae (its in there automatically, didn't set it up!)
