i have jsut built a new system, but now i want my old PC as well as this one to have internet access

i have a USB modem.

What else do i need to set up this network. I ahve got a mate and he shares his internet but one of his PC ahs to be on all the time, i dont want this please help me. Also he sed something about crossover cables from RJ45 to USB or something, please explain :D:D

thanks :D

You will need crossover cables, they are usually supplied with a router. Just buy a nice router and see how you go, Belkin is what i currently use and i recommend them.
EDIT - You can do this without a router through a Crossover cable linking from the one pc to the other, Router is the best option, that way only the router has to be turned on to work.

No, from the modem provided from your provider, you will need to use ethernet instead of USB, and you plug from your providers modem into the router, then from the router into both your PC's from the new ports provided on the router
