Hi all,

I am struggling a lil at the mo setting up my new PC. It is a fresh install with Vista 64bit. I have 3x Samsung 500gb HDs and using an Abit IP35 Pro. I would like sata 1+2 in raid 0. With Sata 3 as a single drive that I can use to back up.

(is the above possible?)

Also I cannot seem to get Vista install to let me install it over a raid. I have tried the following:

Under bios >>> OnChip SATA Devis <<<

IDE Bus Master is ENABLED
SATA Mode I have tried IDE, RAID and AHCI.

Each time i change the SATA mode i have tried booting the vista 64 bit install, then where it asks me to choose a drive to install Vista on, i select install drivers. I put in my Mobo Cd and browse to Intel Sata drivers for Vista 64bit. Install the one driver that is available and then back to the choose the HD and i cant do anything.

Someone please help me :D where am i going wrong?

Any help is much appreciated!

In theory this should work for Vista-

Make sure the drives are on the Intel ports and set the SATA mode to RAID.
Save, reboot and set up the RAID in the Intel RAID menu.
Vista should automatically see the RAID as it has the P35 RAID drivers built in.

That's pretty much it apart from installing the latest Intel P35 RAID drivers once you get into Vista.

I don't have any experience with the IP35 Pro, but it uses the exact same chipset as my P35 DS3P and I found Vista to be a piece of cake to install to RAID 0 with it.

As Cob has stated, then when the Desktop appears after Vista install, install INTEL Chipset Drive - Revision v 8.3.0.1011 straightway (or from installation CD, but best to use latest version), then install the rest of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software from your installation CD.

When installing your RAID0, make sure you only have the 2 HDDs connected to the first 2 SATA ports of the ICH9R cont, then after you have got it up and running with chipset/Matrix installed, attached the 3rd HDD that you wish to use in IDE, and the ICH9R cont will just pick it up, just go into the Intel Matrix Storage Manager and make sure it appears, then use Disk Management to format it, if not already done so.:)

I am up and running thank you !!! My monitor is running on DVI and it was switching between digital and analogue to find modes when rebooting... and i kept missing the Press Ctrl + I for intels raid menu, finally worked it out hehe

Thanks very much!
