I'm sure this has been answered somewhere on the forum but have been hunting this morning and can't find a defnite answer.

I have Office 2003 and want to upgrade to Office 2007 using the Ultimate Steal offer. I now want to install this on my new PC but don't want to have to install Office 2003 and then install over the top. I've read that its possible to create a disc from the download but how exactly is this done? I've installed image burn but imagine that when you download Office you get an exe file. What do you do then ?

Do you copy this link to image burn and then click write, insert a disc and then the programme software is burned to the disc. Then if I enter the disc on my new machine, is it simply a case of entering the product code that I was given. I have the product code for my old copy of office if I'm prompted to use it - which begs the question, can I simpoly download on my new machine and install that way??.

Can anyone help as I'd like to do this today!

Cheers

looking at this again, I think I just create an iso image from the downloaded files and then write the iso image to disc?

You can either burn the exe files to disc (no need to convert them or anything) or download on new machine. You'll be asked for the old 2003 licence when installing.

cheers, so no need to install office 2003 first, just straight download and install??

One more point - will I need to install office 2003 anyway if my old files were created in this or will it convert them automatically?

If so can I then use them in work - where we still use XP and office 2003?

Cheers for your help again , much appreciated :)

I'm pretty certain its retail - just checked now and I've just got the disc plus product code as I decided to get rid of all my software boxes. Doubt it would matter but its the student and teacher edition?

Had already downloaded office to my laptop but not installed it, so when I open the link in my email on my new machine, the option to download is not there, just the codes. I think I'll have to creat a disc, but when you say to burn the exe files to disc, how exactly do you do this??

Just use Windows built in buring software - Open the disc drive ("D:\" or whatever it is), and drag and drop the downloaded files, then click the burn these file to disc option.

Well I managed to make an iso disc using imageburn software. I then found out I could, after all, download office 2008 to my new machine using the digital river find my order page. Here you can re-load the software for up to 30 days after your original order - all you need to do is enter your original order number and the password you were given when you make the order.

Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks to doggs for his/her help today :)
