Howdy, a chum of mine is considering building a new PC for around £450, but we've both been 'out of the loop' for a while, so we're not really fully sure what to get!

Could someone please help spec a build for us? We've no preference to AMD/Intel or ATI/Nvidia or whatever, just whatever is best for the price :D! We don't need the OS or Monitor included (thankfully). It'll be used for programming (Visual Studio) and some gaming.

Oh yeah, we don't require mouse/keyboard/speakers either. If I miss anything I'll edit :P

Thanks!

how big is the monitor? resolution? could use a cheaper graphics card, and beef up the cpu.

Not as beefy as the above spec but has a mobo that is Sata III and USB3.0 compatible. It depends how much gaming you do and at which res. Also, the 4th core of the X3 440 can be unlocked giving you a Phenom II X4 B40.

Hm... that is a noticeable difference, but then I suppose at £450 we can't expect the best :P.

I'd agree with the 5770 too, I've heard lots of good things about it.

Also, I realise we need case fans, would the little £5-10 ones be good enough?

buy scythe or sharkoon fans, one or two will be enough, if you are wanting that Xigmatek case?
