Hi all, hope for some advice, I've had a look in other threads but decided to do one for myself.
I am in the process of selling and replacing my 775 kit (P5Q Deluxe, Q6600, 8GB RAM and CNPS9900 cooler).
My budget is the equivalent of 350 pounds.

What I need is processor, motherboard and 8GB RAM.
CPU cooler will come later.

Processor:
I've already decided on the processor being an i5 2500k, which I know is a popular choice.

My main problem has been picking a motherboard for around 120-140 pounds:
I need one that will support crossfire x8 x8.
Good stable overclocker.
Good onboard sound.
One or two USB 3.0 and sata 600 ports, I don't need loads.
Not necessary to have pci-e 3.0.
Having a decent UI for the BIOS, UEFI or whatever you call it would be nice. :P

RAM for about 50 pounds:
Something good, stable, will work well with the an overclock, looking for 8GB.

Thank you for your time!

Mobo:

RAM:

ram http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS £10 and just as good

or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-112-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 over £50 budget set but good price

if you want corsair http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-311-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

motherboard http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-188-MS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1990 if you buy by Monday 21st you get the vat back so £125, cheaper then the asrock many of the bell/whistles but none of the troubles

For the msi offer http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18338613

cooler are you planning air cooling or water(be it custom or corsair h60 or the like)? If it's air then stick to the lp ram suggested, if it's water then maybe look at

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-060-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-300-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

or even http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-064-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 maybe overkill and over your £50 budget but at the price

what's your current psu make/model? as it may require upgrading as well, also are the hard disks and optical drive sata?

Thanks for the replies so far.
I'm in Ireland so I am thinking the vat back on the MSI's won't apply (Says UK only, does Overclockers count Ireland, don't think so)?

I'll be using an air cooler most likely.

I switched all my hard drives/optical drive to sata recently in preperation.

My PSU now is a funny one. Was bought in a rush at a high street shop to replace a borked PSU.
So it is from someone I had never heard of, doubt many have. It's a 650w from 'High Power Plus'. Can't even find many reviews for it.
Usually I would be worried about it due to not being well know and from a high street shop but it has ran my Q6600 overclocked with a 5850 crossfire setup fine so far.

Never skimp on the PSU is the golden number 1 rule around here, you never know when it might fail and then take your expensive gear with it as it doesn't have any modern form of overload protection.

yep psu upgrade is the order of the day, I personally wouldn't risk you new shiny bits and pieces to an unknown.

do you happen to have the box/manual/even from side of psu with the amps on each 'rail'(3.3v, 12v, etc) with total power etc? One of the experts maybe able to tell you if it's enough to power your system.

on and is that northern ireland(uk) or sourtern/republic of Ireland(not uk)? and it's not a ocuk only offer on the msi cashback, couple of other sellers also taking part(it's msi running it not ocuk).

edit: not again stulid, do you have a special radar or something which tells you which thread I'm typing a reply on or something? :(

From the PSU website:
+5V +3.3V +12V1 +12V2 -12V +5Vsb
20a 24a 20a 20a 0.3a 2.5a

650w

> ATX 2.2 version power supply
> Active PFC
> Temperature control sensor
> Over Voltage/Short circuit protection
> Dual +12V rails (+v1 v2)
> 12cm low noise fan
> Energy efficiency 80%+

Bleh, tried laying the table out correctly, isn't keeping the spacing!
I'm in Rep. of Ireland.
