Help Spec new PC please.

Hey guys, I have £1300 to spend on a new complete gaming PC.

I need help as I'm out of touch with the new technology.


Every thing needs to be included:

CPU, Cooling,Mobo, Ram, GFX, Soundcard, Speakers, HDD's, CD Drives, PSU, Case, Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse, Mousemat and a Monitor.

I know it's a lot to ask, but It all will be appreciated!

Hi, Some things that can be changed on there , but in the long run its a very good gaming machine

lol jay it fits... lets compare my spec v yours shall we

he gets a better moniter and its 5" bigger
a black case to go with the black drives
double the hdd space
a better graphics card by miles
the 650i was designed for gamers the 680i wasnt look on nvidia site to confirm.

lets be honest here.. for £1300 he wants a gaming pc.. with my spec he has a far better gaming pc than with your spec. and thats what he wanted.

also you speced him an os he didnt want

Didnt ask for a lecture ....... Your missing the point that he also wants a good cooler for the cpu. So + Another £50

Thing to remember about gaming PCs is that it's the peripherals which make the larger difference. Make sure you get a good mouse, mat, headset, moniter and keyboard (not £70, just not tacky crap).

I made the jump from a 17" to a 20" and even that size difference is massive, and so so so utterly worth it.

Remember, you don't spend your whole day staring inside your case, but at your monitor, whilst using the peripherals.

P.S. If you're really serious about gaming go for a good mouse (e.g. Deathadder - <£40) and a surround sound headset.

I agreed with you upto the mouse and keyboard comments......

My KB cost £18, and the mouse about £13, both MS products, and i can game just as well using these as i have done using friends super leet gaming kits. I've been playing games for years, and i can honestly say you don't need to spend silly amounts to game well, though if that works for you then so be it..... but its just not true.

On another note: I liked Paul's spec better, think he did a good job explaining why its better suited and i have to agree... soz Jay...

-£60 can come from when the CPUs drop in price, or by choosing a cheaper case, dropping down to the S3 version of the motherboard or getting the 20" version of the moniter. Or you could shop around a little.

I've tried a lot of mice, and my god does a good one make a lot of difference, but as I said, it depends how hardcore you are. I play way too much (even I'll admit that), so the expensive mouse is worth every penny for me, you just have to decide where your priorities lie.

Alternatively go for the cheaper mx518, but Deathadder is the best mouse on the market at this point in time.
