well i went for a petrol in the end seems i did ok for it as the petrol economy seems quite good got 80 miles to £10 an the light wasnt even on the other day :)

This is what i bought in the end :) and im happy with it,
1999 ALFA ROMEO 156 1.8 T SPARK BLACK

CAR FROM THE BAY...

some will say i wanted a diesel some will say i wanted economy an others will plain say parts will be expensive

so the cars ok on fuel, good enough for me anyway :) parts ....yeah but i got family that have worked on machineary all there lives so should be able to help out to a certain extent its a nice car few scratches but im gonna T-cut them out nice price im sure ill be able to sell it for what i bought it for and insurance 3rd party fire and theft is only £288 !! :)

id definetly recomend one

it was on e bay at a pretty reasonable price tbh considering its a fancy car

an someone in this post hinted towards that some petrol engines can be good on fuel so i took the dive an found it to be true :)

carnt really say i have thrashed it much yet as im really really enjoying the smooth ride its not superfast in the low end but the nice ness of the driver really makes you forget that.

i just wanna go back get into it an drive drive drive its just so nice after having lowered bumpy suspensions for the last few years. very nice car and affordable i think at least i just wish i had bought one sooner

its group 13, 1.8 petrol and well to me its a fancy car, on a V plate 1999 and 3rd party fire and theft is £288 to me, im 25 with 5 years ncb on drive and Quinn even let me drive other cars on a 3rd party thingy

So you wanted a cheap to run car and you bought a 1500 quid V plate Alfa 156 with no aircon.

Hmmm. That's ridiculously cheap, and it'll be for a reason. I hope you've got an overdraft. Enjoy the car :p

it was a company car that was going to the auction, the bay starting was the auction reserve so i got a bargin imo :)

Doesn't sound like it was a conventional company car - ie, leased from leasing company.

I hope you can prove my cynical nature wrong and you have great motoring but even Alfa owners will tell you worryingly cheap Alfas are bad news and £1500 for any 156 - let alone a not high mileage V plate one - is worrying cheap.

Especially when it looks like it hasn't really been the previous owners pride and joy.
