I've had my old gaming PC for about 4 years now and looking to upgrade, hoping to spend around £1.2k max for something that will last me a similar amount of time. Ideally current games on max settings, I don't mind having to drop down to medium settings for new games in a few years.

From my basic research I'd like to go with a Ryzen 2700x and at least a GTX1060/equivalent. I'm pretty new to all this though so feel free to tell me I'm an idiot for whatever reason or swap those out.

I already have two monitors which I might change out at some point, any recommendations would be good though.

Thanks!

underbudget, went for a 1st gen ryzen instead (1700), but you get a vega64 in return (~gtx 1080 performance)
also has the benefit of not requiring expensive gsync monitors for VRR and freesync monitors are a dime a dozen

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,086.98 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Solid ^^^^^

If you can push the 750w unit a little better, or just undervolt the Vega 64 a bit . Good 650w unit will handle it but goes a little outside the main eff percentage

Sounds good, thanks both! Will wait until payday but that all seems doable with a 750w unit too. I may have a little more than I thought coming in, would the 2700x be solid future-proofing, or is there only a small difference so overkill?

you'd also want an x470 (or at minimum a very good b450) board to take advantage of XFR2/PB2 that's available on the 2700x.
it's maybe a 5-10ish % difference

vrms on the b450 boards aren't all that great, and will need active cooling (ie the airflow from the stock top-down cooler) need to bear this in mind if you do decide to change the stock cooler to something aftermarket.
the 2700x can be VRM throttled under full loads on a b450 board

is it worth the extra £140 for the CPU and £30 for an x470 board for that?
only you can decide :p
