Ok, so I installed Linux Mint to a USB Drive yesterday (first time I've ever used Linux) and booted up. Nice gimmick and everything, but then I wanted to clean my main HDD in this laptop and install Vista on that.
So I used "GParted" to format the drive... then, I don't know what has happened. Obviously my windows install has gone, but I can't mount my external HDD (which has my Vista installation files on it). I can't even properly format the main HDD cause it just runs into errors no matter what I do. Errors I don't understand, I should add.
So... now I'm in Linux Mint, running from USB... can't do anything to the internal drive in the laptop, and can't mount the external HDD.
Any ideas? I just need to be able to format the main internal HDD. That's all. GParted says it can, but it lies.
Edit: It also messes with the way devices are detected at boot-up which is extremely frustrating. Mostly due to the fact that it fails to detect itself unless I reboot a thousand times. This Linux stuff is really just, terrible.
