On removal of heatdink, hands slippd and paste got in socket.
Tried cleaning it, damn hands too big and bent 3 pins. &£!@

Plugged CPU in w/out heatsink 5mins. Works.

Should I replace don't want to clean socket invader I brake more pins :(

Reseller can replace CPU immediately.
Out of stock for mobo 5-6 wks. Z87X-D3H

Paid £120 what mono shud I get to replace it with?

Ty

You say you bent 3 pins and after putting the cpu in it does work, does it boot as in POST?, put the HSF back on and test. What type of TIM is it? Non-conductive? Depending on how badly the 3 pins are bent and if the paste is non-conductive you could have had a lucky escape.

Obviously you wanna clean up as much of the TIM as possible with IPA, go easy though or you'll make it worse

It boots as in win 7? Logins etc

Paste is ARctoc MX-2. Pins were bent usin
Little isoprypol pads, it got caught and had to remove, I rebebt the pins back, slight bend now. Shud I get CPU replace? I can and mobo too which mobi? Refer to OP

its non-conductive so it shouldn't be any danger to the CPU and if you can boot into windows it's likely that the sharp pins have pushed tight enough onto the CPU to create a good current path.
From the Arctic website...
As the ARCTIC MX-2 does not contain any metallic particles so electrical conductivity will not be an issue. Unlike other silver and copper compounds, the ARCTIC MX-2 ensures that contact with any electrical pins would not result in any sort of damage. Moreover the ARCTIC MX-2 is very easy to apply as it has ideal consistency.

Shouldn't be anything wrong with the CPU if you cleaned all the TIM off it. Personally I would clean as much as I can out of the socket and put the cpu back in and use it, all depends on yourself on how good of a job you have done cleaning it and how well you re-aligned the pins.

Just hijacked a PC to use:

Okay, I appreciate your help however I would like to know if you were in my shoes, with the bent pins an' all, would you get a replacement if it was no hassle at all?

The CPU has some thermal crap over the crevices on the base... I'll use a toothpick to get it out?

Which mobo should I get a replacement for... my current one is out of stock at my retailer and something at the same price £120 is preferable.
