Recently got a Wieson Active DP-DVI off the MM so I could run three monitors off my 5770. It's on the list of ATI approved active adaptors.

Unfortunately, the third monitor will only run at 800x600 and I get the message: "Problem with displayport, lower setting applied" and "The system has detected a problem with the connection between your computer and the displayport display that will prevent you from using the highest resolution and/or refresh rates".

I've tried with two gpus: 5870 and 5770. Also tried with two different monitors, and also in single and dual monitor configurations. Tried three sets of catalyst drivers (drive sweeper used between installations). Nothing will stop that message, or get the resolution any higher.

Googling brings up lots of posts but no one seems to know what the problem is - I want to rule everything out before I decide there's something wrong with the dongle because it was from the MM. Very grateful for any help, thanks :).

Have you tried to make sure the adaptor is properly plugged in? I was getting the same error message when my MiniDP->DP adaptor was faulty (pretty sure at least 1 wire had unconnected itself from the miniDP plug), sometimes it worked, but had the error, sometimes it just wouldn't display at all. I got it RMAed. Just try wiggling the adaptor a little, see if there is any point that it works properly.
