OK, so I've fallen foul of giving a person of more limited means the benefit of the doubt and trying to spread a bit of goodwill.

Long story short, someone from down the road clipped my car, and did a tiny amount of damage to the front (new numberplate required plus a damned good buff to get some light scratches out of some plastic trim). They admitted to me that they were at fault, and an estimate to put right from a local garage was £75. They didn't want to go through insurance (neither would I for that amount), and said they'd have the money in my hand by the end of the week after.

Fast forward to the week after - they've moved out and I'm spitting feathers! I think they're housing association tenants, but none of the neighbours have a forwarding address so I can track these little cherubs down. Any idea how I might go about this? Police? Council? Housing Association? Or should I just drop it, have a beer, and get on with my life...

*I am fully aware that next time I should either just accept I'll have to fix the car myself for a small amount of damage, or invoke the might of Adrian Flux to fully bend them over, make next year's car insurance prohibitively expensive ffor them and make it impossible to feed/wash their kids as I roar past in my big shiny V8, laughing at them standing by the bus stop.

police tbh then maybe the council if you get no joy of the police. can you not fid out who owns the house? maybe they would be the best place to get some answers off. wouldnt let it go if it was me.

The only thing holding me back is the thought that this type of person may be likely to 'get their own back' by running a key down a few panels... That would cost considerably more than £75...

Its 75 quid forget it, dont spoil your easter driving yourself mad about it.

Yeah 75 quid sucks but not the end of the world, it's a days work or whatever just write it off and don't waste any more time/effort on it :p

Some good advice! Thanks guys.

I've already fixed the car - couldn't stand seeing it looking injured! Life lesson learned!
