Hi all, hope someone can help.
In a nutshell, I upgraded to a 1440p 144hz monitor, 650w to 850w PSU. r9 390 to Vega 64 GPU.
I have been experiencing worsening errors ever since.
I run the 1440p monitor through Displayport, and my old secondary monitor through HDMI out, but with an adapter to go DVI in (Monitor does not support 1920x1200 through HDMI in).
I get these artifacts: https://imgur.com/FWxpDto every so often on the HDMI screen, if I move my mouse over it they disappear.
This graphical error has been appearing with more regular frequency: https://imgur.com/9puvmeA moving the mouse over it does nothing (it disappeared by chance on the video). The time it appears has lengthened, when entering password same error is present. When logged in on desktop, error is less noticeable and disappears after 5 seconds or so.
Also gotten a blue screen with error: Video_Scheduler_Internal_error
As well as a shutdown application error because of onedrive.exe: The instruction at 0x0000000010000A689 referenced memory at 0x000000001000A689. The memory could not be written.
When running a pc game (happens with any with random frequency) slow downs, minimized to desktop randomly.
I've had a couple of complete lockups. Pc has also started to just general 'lag' at times, if browsing web or in folders.
Had an error which is hard to describe (on 1440p monitor only). Basically, every image displayed, including desktop background, had some kind of issue rendering shadows/differences in light gradients over the image. Not sure how else to describe it.
This error also just appeared today randomly. The space above and below what is shown was free of errors: https://imgur.com/Qn9JDuM
Things I've tried:
Complete GPU driver reinstall. (used a driver removal program). Installed the 'beta' AMD drivers. Also swapped out the PSU for my older 650w. Had no issue so swapped back to the 850w, and got a complete loss of power randomly. (This was after changing drivers, I have had a mix of problems both on the 650w and 850w PSU) Back on old 650w.
Ran windows memtest, no issue
Ran Prime95. 3 cores did ok, 4th didn't 'fail' but neither did it complete any tests......
Tried just running 1440p screen, still got errors.
Went with vega 64 to retailer, who ran it on a game for a while but got no problems, so they declared it 'ok'. I could RMA it for a proper testing.
Only thing I haven't done is swap out the graphics card, but i've sold my old one to a friend so don't have it around for long term testing, I could ask him nicely to borrow it for a couple days/weeks to see if issues pop up on that as well.
Does this sound like a GPU issue? A good knowledgeable PC friend suggested it could very well be my CPU. I've not ruled it out, but if it is it means upgrading mobo/cpu/ram to get anything worthwhile out of replacing it which is a lot to commit to if its NOT the cpu.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
