Has anyone experienced where their TV goes off by itself to standby mode or is there any TV Gurus on this forum. I have checked the sleep function and its set to 'off'.

If I switch the TV on from cold it goes off within 4 seconds. I then turn it back on and it stays on for 30 seconds then goes back off. If I switch it back on again it stays on. I played a DVD this morning and it stopped on the whole DVD so I left it on longer and it switched off after around 4 constant hours of 'on'.

This is not a cold issue as the TV is fairly new only 2 years old 32" LCD Philips.

Has anyone had any similar experiences before? I have a TV repair company coming out this afternoon to take the TV away to see whats causing it.

Thanks in advanced.

yes i had/have a philips tv that did that. wasnt an lcd though.

32" widescreen. an engineer picked it up and brought it back claiming nothing was wrong with it, he said "ive had it on all afternoon and it was fine"

i switched it on while he was there and it went off after 2 or 3 seconds. he went "hmmm, i'll have to get back to you about that"

this was a year ago :/

and he still has your TV? damn I only play dvds on it it doesnt even have TV connected. I might have to get a new one by the sounds of it but the guy whos coming out from his little company I can trust because hes fixed many TV's before. If he can't fix it ill just tell him to keep it because its not worth the hassel. They so cheap now anyway might aswell buy a new one.
