Help upgrading my GTX480 - No Signal

Hi there,

Looks like it is time to upgrade, I guess I have a bad card not sure. My Gtx480 started to loose Signal and restarts after gaming for no more than 20mins and I failed to find out why or what causes it.

I tried everything, from cleaning it to updating the driver to many other solutions which I found using our beloved "Google" and could not find a single answer to my issue.

However I noticed graphics card is running at 61c-75c without any load, hell its just running normally and only using the web currently and never goes down bellow 61c. While gaming it shoots from 89c-101c. I need advice on what to do.... (By the way I found those numbers using "SpeedFan").

Do you guys think it is a overheating problem? does it worth upgrading to a different card? I do have a small room but the windows are open and can tell you that I am freezing like no tomorrow and still does not help much.

Any advice at all guys? I am looking to upgrade to a better card at the end with a better cooler card if possible.

If it was me, I would whip the cooler off and re apply some thermal paste, sounds as though its just crashing due to heat issues. won't cost you much to do this and if it works you can always gain a few quid from selling the card on if you do decide to upgrade.

Overheating, take the shroud off and then the cooler and replace the thermal paste, it's very simple to do.

This +1

Take the stock cooler off and throw on an Antec Kuhler 620, awesome temps and silent !!

Good thread about it here, http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18408934

Thank you so much guys, I think I found the issue... there was a thick wall of dust inside.... anyway the temp still high so I tried to actually open it and one of the screws does not move at all, I believe the head of it, is a little worn off and the screwdriver does not move it at all, this pic from a different thread shows a good example of what I mean:

These screws that I'm talking about, I took 3 off and the last one just stuck and does not move no matter how hard I try.

Any more advice?

you guys are awesome!!! :)
