Righty, 4meg for 25 quid is dire. Yes.
Can get amazing whoopdidoo upto 24meg for a quid cheaper...

I emailed be and they said "youll get about 9megs on that phoneline."
With virgin rolling out 10meg sometime, is it worth it? I'm going to email virgin and ask on a date and price.

Now i know with virgin id get 10meg stable, with upgrades down the line, with be I wont get a stable connection it will disconnect time to time (not fussed, i turn pc off at night etc so hey), but it will fluctuate and wont be upgraded.

Worth the move or stick with? I'm tempted to stick with, even if it is dire for the price atm.

Well i'm a BE Customer and very happy, getting 17 MB and my lines pretty stable vary rarely drops. However if your connection is indeed going to be upgraded sometime soon it seems like a bit of a waste of time, not forgetting in effect you are going to have a 3 month contract, which could be annoying in the future!

Not much in it really!

Virgins 10meg cable service is £27/month from now on i think

Bethere is £24/month and could be up to about 20meg, but you may only get the 9 they tell you (i only get 11)

But with virgin you get pop3 e-mail with webmail, and you get webspace too. E-mail from be is £4/month on its own.

However the bethere upload is higher than virgin.

Much of a muchness really, whichever you get you will probably be happy with :)

ye convinced the rents to go for Be as ive jsut got back from uni and this cheapy plusnet plus 2mb line is worse than our 56kbps line (no joke).

Rang up be yesterday and was told that we would probs get about 9mb. Pretty good, with a 500gb softcap usage allowance. Can;t wait for it to get sorted !

You mean 20meg as of next week.

As for the topic; Just call Virgin and say you are thinking of leaving, they'll offer you a deal.

I just got 10meg for £16/month out of them, which will be 20meg next week. :)

Yeah seriously, a lot of people have had letters saying if they're on 10Mbit they're getting 20Mbit soon, and people on 4Mbit will be going up to 10Mbit. The guy on the phone said to me it's rolling out in Preston on 1st April as they're already trialling the upgrades here (amongst other things.)

I originally called because I was getting rubbish speeds and was annoyed with paying £24.99/month for 4Mbit when I could go on SkyBB or Be for much less, and they offered me 10Mbit for £15.99 if it would keep me telling me I'd be on 20Mbit soon enough too. Needless to say, it kept me. ;)

We are also on Virgin Media phone (was all Telewest for us) but Sky TV.

Hmm, so you had a phone and bb package or?

I've seen many people phoning about packages but not just singular you see.

Oh well, can get dad to complain as hes uber annoyed at paying 25quid for 4meg when be is 4times the speed for less :P.

Got the number you phoned btw? He said he'll call tomorrow and have a go at them, ha

We have phone and broadband from Virgin Media but we're downgrading the phone package soon.

They wanted to offer us a deal on our TV package too, until we told them we're still watching SkyOne. ;)

Just call Virgin Media's main number and you'll get a number option for complaints. :)

It says "press # if you are moving home, or thinking of cancelling your Virgin Media services."

LOL. I didn't have to lie my face off. I just said Sky/Be have offered us faster, cheaper internet and we're thinking of canceling so that we can switch to their services instead.

First thing they did was offer £10Mbit for £15.99/month on a permanent basis, so we took it.

Ooo!

Just got told about this, sounds great! I'll get my dad to phone up tomorrow, it's more than half the price off for the same package! Cheers OcUK! :D

Cheers for the info, I'm going to ring tommorrow. I pay £25 for 4 meg and this month I got billed £36 for 10 meg. I rung them up and they said I had rung and upgraded. I must've done it in my sleep then :)
