help, virgin or be...

Dad just got off of the phone to them. They knocked 19quid off of his monthly bill. He's well chuffed :D

We'll be getting an upgrade to 20meg around may time. And they also told him that by the year 2010 we'll be on 1gigabit down with 10mb upload. :D

Think I need to get the father to re-ring them up the deal he got was 2mb for £14 :O guess he didn't even push at all! We was origionally on 10mb -_____-

Well after 40 mins on the phone, been passed around 6 times. I got a guy to quote 27quid for 10meg, phone with free tv.

Put through to "sales" and the woman said he was mis informed. FFS

Ulfhedjinn, she said that if i can get account info of someone who has a likewise deal (your 16quid for 10meg i mentioned) they would honour it and gimmie the same! But obv they need to check against the other persons account.

WOndered what phone package your on, and your monthly bill. If this is too personal tell em where to go, or could you email me with details. I'm rather annoyed the woman wasnt having the 3 for 27, grr.

Phoned up again and sounded all sad to the guy, haha. He said its on the records, but he did quote me wrong, it should be 36quid a month. Ha. SO hes emailed him with my mobile number and said "well he has to honour it, cant really go back on himself after a quote". Time shall tell!

Hey there Psypher5.

When I called, I just dialed 150 or whatever the main Virgin Media number is, then waited for the "moving house, or canceling Virgin Media services" option to be listed in the menu.

As soon as I got through, I was asked why I would like to cancel Virgin Media, and I said that I could get "up to" 8-16Mbit broadband from Sky or "up to" 24Mbit broadband from Be. They immediately marked up my 4Mbit connection to a 10Mbit one and listed the price as £15 instead of £34.

They asked me about my phone package and I said that we are on talk unlimited (XL) and that we were happy with it, so that stayed at £25 per month, but we are planning to lower that package anyway.

They also asked about our TV package, and we told them we use Sky for our TV service. No change.

Basically, our original package was: -
Talk Unlimited Phone: £25/month.
Telewest Blueyonder 4Mbit: £25/month.
Total: £50/month.

Now it's been upgraded to: -
Talk Unlimited Phone: £25/month.
Telewest Blueyonder 10Mbit: £15/month.
Total: £40/month.

If we had kept ther broadband package at 4Mbit, they would have lowered that to £12/month and the overall bill would be around £37/month. The might have also offered us a deal on our phone package if we hadn't said we are happy with it, but we are, though it'll cost about £10 when we downgrade it and the total package will end up costing £25/month.

If you ask me; You got 10Mbit and whatever phone package for £27/month with a free TV package. I would be very happy with that, as it's a good deal. I'll ask the card holder if she's willing to send you the info though. :)

I just have to wait it out now and see if they phone me :/

Unlucky, they gave me mine permanent. :p

Hi

be careful and keep an eye on your bills,i know for a fact that they can only apply deals every three months, then somebody must reapply the deal for another 3 months and so on.
So if whoever gave you your deal forgets to apply your deal after the 3 month period then your monthly amount will go back up...apparently 3 months is the most the system will automatically apply goodwill deals for...

Yeah the guy I was talking to mentioned that because I said "will the price go back to normal in three months and will I have the option of extending it?" He just said "nah I'll make sure it's permanent because we've had so many people calling that we've started just putting it down as twelve months or lifetime."

I'll still keep an eye on my bill though, you can be sure of that. :)
