Help - Want to move back to android from iphone 4s

Thanks for the replies guys :)

I think I'd best just go to CPW and hope they have display models of these phones!

I genuinely would be very happy with a sensation as I loved the phone. The problem is as I said, if mine wasn't faulty and I buy another one then I'm stuck once again with a phone with no signal! I found the sensation to be the perfect size and I actually preferred the screen to the iphones one (seemed brighter and clearer to me!)

You definitely need to :p

You should be impressed with them all tbh, going to be a tough decision :p

From what you have said so far, I honestly think the S is the best device for you, size is spot on and much nicer feel to it than the sensation IMO plus it is lighter and thinner and you love sense, which only the HTC mobiles have (and as I said you won't get anywhere close to the overall unified feel of the sense apps and the nice/pretty UI look, touchwiz is packed with functionality etc. but it just still seems disorganised and ugly looking regarding the colour scheme etc. IMO [it is more than just the SMS, launcher, browser apps etc. it runs throughout the entire system, the notification bar, the menus etc. and these areas can only be changed via root and a custom ROM)) but the signal issue you won't know until you have got one for yourself, if you did have signal problems, cancel and return the mobile within 7 days and then consider the GS 3 and X (this doesn't seem to have any signal issues at all) if you don't mind the size and the looks/design of the GS 3 including touchwiz and then the poor battery life of the X :p

Well then you will (should :p) love the S screen, not to mention the X and GS 3 screens! :p

From the reviews I've read, the One S or the S3 are the best for battery life. I've got to get some new shoes so may use it as an excuse to go out phone shopping without the mrs knowing (whole day off.... and I really don't want to do - her shopping !

I'm going to have to read your review of the phone again, the only thing that really bugs me with them is the fixed battery - whats with that?! Typically a S3 advert is currently playing on E4!

Yup, definitely the best there is, I think the S has the edge though (to be expected though considering it has a smaller screen and isn't 720P), there are a lot of mixed reviews though on the GS 3 battery life, some are getting pretty poor battery life (barely any better than the x) and others are getting great battery life, Robbo is getting the GS 3 as well in the next few weeks so he will be able to confirm that area essentially. However, you will be able to buy an extended battery for the GS 3, therefore it will then take the lead or/and you can carry spare batteries around with you.

hehe :D Just make sure she doesn't find out! :D :p

Yup, I have also updated the review thread with some more info. in each post so read through the other posts of mine in that thread, hopefully it will help you a bit more :)

No idea :( It is a stupid move by HTC just like the lack of SD slot as well....... Think it is something to do with the aluminium uni-body and keeping the device as thin as possible or something like that.....

It bothered me as well at first, but the battery life as you can see is not a problem at all and apparently if the mobile did freeze or get into a bootloop [if you root etc.] then you just hold down on the power button for like 10secs or something and the mobile force restarts/turns off and people say that it works for them [in a bootloop etc.], the only problem is if the battery has a fault with it, it means you have to send it back to get it exchanged so you will be without a phone for a few weeks where as if you could take the battery out yourself, it wouldn't be a problem then..........

Speaking of stability/freezes, I have only had 2 freezes/restarts since owning this phone (since April) and that was before the first update, since that update (about May time I got it), I have not had any more *touch wood* and I very rarely restart my phone, no idea why the mobile froze/restarted, don't know if it was because of swiftkey 3 beta or just a problem with sense, but it froze and restarted automatically within 10 seconds anyway.

Hey mate,

I went and had a look at the Galaxy S3, and I must say I'm pretty much sold! I liked the way it worked and it did seem a little big but I'm sure its probably something you get used to!

My biggest concern with the HTC is their (imo) god awful repair centre. Ten attempts to fix my previous desire and in the end they just sent me back a broken phone!

When is robbo due to get his S3? I would have purchased one today but the guy refused to sell me one sim free, even though they are advertising it for sale and he had stock!

Not happy!

Nice :)

You shouldn't be disappointed with the GS 3, it is a great mobile regarding hardware and touchwiz is an improvement compared to previous versions.

You will get use to the size as well. Samsung did a great job regarding the ergonomics of the phone.

Thankfully I haven't had to use their repair centre yet........:p But I have read too many people saying the same thing as you :(

IIRC he said he is getting the blue GS 3 within the next few weeks, they have the white ones where he is (Norway IIRC) but none of the blue ones in stock, iirc, he had a play with the white one and said he was really impressed with it and very impressed with the screen (will try to find his post on that), better than the galaxy nexus by quite a bit.

Why he refuse to sell you it?

You going for the white or Pebble blue version?

EDIT:

Found it:

The shop here has FINALLY got the Galaxy S III working models in stock, so I've just had a nice long play with a blue and a white one, and...

I much prefer the blue. I don't think the white is too bad but the small black border around the screen is far more obvious and the 'brushed' effect actually seems quite stylish in person.

As for the phone itself, it feels really nice to hold, it doesn't feel cheap at all, which came as a big surprise. Someone said the home button felt really cheap like on the Galaxy S2, but I thought it was okay, not quite as refined as the one on the iPhone, but fine in general.

The screen seems quite a lot better than the Galaxy Nexus (I took mine to compare :p), so that's an obvious bonus too. I'll have to use it for a while until I can judge whether I prefer it to the One X screen, but from what I've seen I'd be happy with either (as I've said before).

Unfortunately the blue model isn't available until the first week of July so I'll get mine then. :)

Overall I was impressed, despite being disappointed when it was announced (like many of you).

He said the area manager has told them not to sell any sim free they want all their stock for contracts as *apparently* they make absolutely no profit from a sim free device...

Funny given you CAN get it cheaper elsewhere!!

I don't know whether to go blue or white, was difficult to tell which one I preferred the look of as they were in a whopping security clasp!

Those security things are annoying! Especially in vodafone store, covers the entire top half of the mobile

I personally don't like white phones/tech. devices, just doesn't do it for me (kind of like the look of the white X though). The PB looks kind of nice when in dark lighting but in bright light the brush effect and blue colour with the purple/light blue home button and blue trim puts me off :(

God damn it, and now google have just released that bargain tastic tablet pc! So much technology want, and the same mundane pay packet each week :(

Robbo - Very interesting read mate :) Thank you for that!

I'm going to test drive a car tomorrow, if the guy does me a decent deal the new phone will have to wait a few weeks.

I can't decide between white and the pebble blue colour either!

I can't see how CPW don't make profit when other places sell it cheaper?

Well epic fail happened!

I was given a HTC desire with a shattered digitizer and rebooting issue. I fixed it rebooting and now it just needs a digitizer.

This phone reminded me what I love about HTC stuff :( So now I have to work out whether I want the sensation XE or one of the one series.

Only reason to go for the XE is if you want more storage and a removable battery, the S/X is far better for everything else, essentially you would just be going for a slightly better sensation.

Also apparently the XE suffers from death grip etc. according to gsmarena.

Hey mate,

From what I read the XE doesn't suffer from it, the normal sensation does however?

I don't like the thought of a device being useless down the line because you cant change the battery yourself!

Yeah, don't get the XE. The One series phones are way better.

You won't need to change the battery in the duration that you have it. It's massively unlikely.

I have no idea from a users point of view, just seen that gsmarena mention about it a fair bit in their review.

As robbo said, you shouldn't need to at all, if you have a problem with it, then it becomes a bit of a pain as it will have to be sent away to get it replaced. But the iphones have never had removable batteries yet they seem to be perfectly fine in the long run :p
