Help - Want to move back to android from iphone 4s

I have no idea from a users point of view, just seen that gsmarena mention about it a fair bit in their review.

http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_sensation_xe-review-672.php

As robbo said, you shouldn't need to at all, if you have a problem with it, then it becomes a bit of a pain as it will have to be sent away to get it replaced. But the iphones have never had removable batteries yet they seem to be perfectly fine in the long run :p

Thats because apples warranty service is light yrs ahead of HTC;)...not sure about Samsung as i havent heard any bad things about phones being sent back to them for repair but HTC are pretty bad.

Bah :( The XE is £297! :)

So?

I'd rather have an Xperia S than an XE, or a Galaxy Nexus for that matter (both are £300 or under).

Avoid the XE.

Indeed, iPhones do have these issues but Apple swap the phone on the spot.

Which is brilliant, now when i bought my SGS3 from the Samsung store at Westfield in Stratford, i asked the guy what do i do in case of something going wrong. He said if its a software issue then bring it into the store and they will flash it and see if that fixes it. If its a hardware issue then you need to call up Samsung direct and they will tell you what to do.

Now apple??, just take the iphone to an apple store and they will replace it there and then.

Just a shame that the Samsung store wont do that as they are similar to the apple stores :/...touch wood i never have to use the Samsung warranty service because im pretty sure id be without it for a few weeks.

HTC's repair service is absolutely terrible. That was the only reason I went to apple instead.

I however, don't really like the iphone or the fact that you can only do what apple want you to with it. Most apps are paid for and the extras are damn expensive given the phone is a £500 device.

I really quite fancied giving the sensation another go, given that if the signal is pants I can DSR it from Asda.

Failing that, point me in the direction of the one S or one X

Yeah, I would rather have a galaxy nexus instead of the XE as well! :p

It isn't a bad phone from what I have heard of it (not looked into detail about it though) but it is pretty much the same as the sensation, just slightly better, you might as well stay on the sensation than get the XE :p

If you don't want to spend much but want to stick to sense and have good battery life then the one S is the best mobile for you, however, if you don't want to spend up to £370 then the galaxy nexus is the phone that I would choose now.

True!

Thankfully I have never had to use HTC's repair service so far...........*touch wood*

But I meant just in the long run without having to get it replaced etc.

Hey mate,

Thanks for the reply! The google nexus phone certainly has come down in price and it looks like it may fall further once google uk start selling it direct.

I really could do with going somewhere and getting a hands on with the HTC phones. The Sensation certainly looks a lot more premium than the One series... maybe thats just me (given I prefer the display on the HTC to the iphone  )

Stop thinking about the Sensation, it's an old phone that wasn't even good when it came out!!!!!! :o

Get the One S or the One X. Try them both and see what you think.

It's pretty much epic screen vs epic battery life (in as few words as possible ;)).

I like epic screen, but if I went for epic screen with a cack battery and had to charge it all the time.... the cack battery would possibly need replacing and that would mean a trip to HTC.......

The phone going back to HTC is like those people returning to the Event Horizon....

Liberate tuteme ex inferis! ;)

The One X battery isn't cack, but it's not as good. I don't think you would have a problem with either battery to be honest (in the sense of it breaking).

I think you're worrying about something that isn't really a problem.

I found the sensation to be rather ugly looking tbh :p Too heavy and thick as well.

Robbo did a quick comparison of the S and X here:

Design: Tie (preference)
Screen: better on the One X, even if you prefer AMOLED you have to give it to the One X
Battery: unquestionably better on the One S
Internals: better on the One S
Software: Tie
Camera/video: Tie
Storage: Twice as good on the One X
Audio: One S
Price: One S is cheaper
Connectivity: NFC on the One X, not on the S

I think I'm going to have to give up and stick to my iphone, it's for simple people who have no decision making ability......... that appears to be me :(

To be fair, the iPhone 4S is a great phone. You might as well hang on to it for now. :)

I'd take one over the Sensation every single day of the week.

I don't like the phone though! I don't like apples take everyone to court attitude either!

Thanks anyway guys - I'll get my 7110 out of the drawer!

Edit : Robbo which did you go for?

I dumped my iphone4 for the One X originally then sold the One X for the SGS3, which im pretty happy with. The only thing i miss from my iphone4 is the quality of apps, Android still has a long way to go imo. But the open nature of Android is definitely a plus over the iphone.

If i was dumping the iphone4 or 4s, id be looking at the SGS3 or the One X...no other handset out there comes close to those 2 at the moment.

What, out of the One X and One S?

The One X because I value the screen more than the battery life.

I think the S3 is better than both though (and I'm getting one next week).

What makes the S3 better for you? S3 fulfills my wish of expandable and a removable battery quite nicely! I do love HTC sense but still!

Robbo - You also mention HTC are due to release new phones in your comparison?!

Yas - Thanks mate, I'll check out the one X reviews now .

Well, to break it down:

I like the design of it. It's not really exciting but the rest of the phone makes up for it. It feels very nice, I was surprised.

The screen is similar overall to the One X, and they're both better than the One S.

The battery life between the One S and S3 seem to be quite closely matched, with no big differences. You can also remove the S3 battery.

The S3 is just as powerful overall, and the GPU is definitely more powerful.

I don't really care for HTC Sense or TouchWiz, on Android neither are a problem for me at least.

The Audio on the S3 seems as good as the One S (or very close at least; possibly better), so that will be nice if I play music in the car from the phone.

The camera seems better (more realistic and detailed), and the HD video is far, far better than either of the HTC phones.

The 16GB + MicroSD slot are nice to have. A 64GB card is £50, which means you end up with 80GB total storage.

Those are my reasons. At first I didn't like the design of the S3, and I still think it's not really very inspired compared to what HTC have done, but in the flesh it looked a lot better than I thought it would.

Ultimately, the S3 is the phone to get if you can.

They are, but nothing is confirmed yet so any release will be a few months away at least. Even if it was the One X with the S4 chip, it still wouldn't be better than the S3, just equal to it (maybe).

You are worse than my brother for making decisions mike! That is not a good sign! :p

Play with the GS 3 and X and S again and see what you prefer, if you don't like touchwiz then you either go with the X for the screen and more storage or the S for the battery life and better CPU etc. If you quite like touchwiz and don't care about the design/looks of the GS 3 then go for it.

Robbo - You've been through all of them now haven't you?! :) Where will you be getting your GS3 from? Cheapest I can find currently is pretty close to £500 sim free. I realise that seems a bit crazy to be changing that way, but unfortunately I have 8 months of my 12 month contract left on this 4s!

Nexus mate - I can't make a decision, the ones I usually do make are on impulse, prime example would be the eos 550d that I've now got! I don't think the galaxy design is problematic? From your response I can only assume you think it isn't all that great?
