firstly, thanks for looking. Secondly, sorry if it's in the wrong forum, my issue could be related to so many things but I'll try to explain....

Basically. For about a week now my pc has been deciding it no longer wants to allow any web pages to be accessed after the Pc has been on for around 15 minutes. Steam pages no longer load, web pages no longer load, games fail to start.

Even stranger is that if I am in an online game, I continue to be able to play. Discord also remains connected. It's like any new feeds get blocked. Chrome says ERR connection failed.

A quick reboot fixes the issue ... for about 15 minutes.

Yesterday I noticed I was connected via a guest network. I connect via Ethernet by the way.

I reset my network settings and that hasn't fixed anything by the look of it.

Also tried a complete windows defender scan of C drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like OS or maybe network driver problem.
Reboot fixing it pretty much excludes "external" devices...
Which would also have harder time in just stopping new connection attempts.

You could try checking if there's newer driver for NIC.
Motherboard maker's product page should ahve it.
Though you can also check what's the actual NIC chip maker and download guaranteedly newest driver from its site.

Operating system is lot harder case.
For start you could run System File Checker.
Also remove overclockings if any.

Run ipconfig from the CMD prompt and see what it says when you first boot into windows, and what it says after you start having problems 15 mins in. Post back with that info plz.

As above, but run ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt and then output that file in a reply.

It's either something malicious, so tell us the contents of the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file or some configuration error in some security software. Besides defender, are you running anything else?

Load up task scheduler as well and list out any items there, especially if anything is scheduled in X mins after login.

Win7? 10?

When it does stop working, drop to a command prompt and do a netstat as well and paste that here.

Finally to rule out DNS, Ping 8.8.8.8 does it reply? Assuming it does, what does pinging google.co.uk do? Reply as well?

And I assume you're not running any VPN either at the time?

Do you have any other device on the same network? Phone? Does that continue to work?

Sorry for the late replies, I got fully involved in a few games of Rainbow Six, just with a reboot inbetween matches!

So a funny thing was noticed last night: when the fault happens, google and YouTube still work! These run from IPv6 don't they?

Thanks for suggestions so far, will post back some results.

Just waiting for the problem to kick in... I have to leave the house in a few moments so if it hasn't faulted by then will have to post broken results later.

To answer a few questions:

No VPN being used.
No 3rd party firewall/antivirus at this moment.
Other devices remain connected.
Drivers updated.

here is the Ipconfig for both before fault and after fault becomes apparent...... Notice the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface area and the lack of physical address at this point.

I have removed a few characters from the addresses, was not too sure on the implications of posting such details on a public forum, please correct me if these are needed to diagnose.

Thanks for the help everyone, will try and go through more suggestions after work :)

How are the temperatures of the CPU? Check if its overheating.
Does the PC run ok when this happens, is it laggy or anything?
Have you tried to replace the network cable? A slightly broken network cable can cause similar issues.
You could download the network drivers and save on disk, uninstall the network drivers from your existing network card, reboot and install the driver again that you downloaded.
If everything seems ok, network drivers and cable replacement doesn't help, then I would reinstall the OS next I guess.

Long shot but maybe also try a Malware bytes full scan, Defender can miss things of a malware nature

Whatever the issue it does seem very strange!

Gave it up lads.... dug out my previous hard drive that I replaced in march and now cloning disk with Acronis.
Seems I tried everything!

Thanks for taking time out of your days to help me regardless.

Not sure how cloning a disk would remove malware, sounds more like a dodgy disk if it is ok now.
Andi.

I changed to SSD in march from a standard Sata drive. What I did yesterday was format my new SSD and Re-clone my old windows drive effectively taking me back to March... I didnt clone my faulty system across. :)
