Hey guys, I've got a pretty new PC and have just recently started having games crash every so often after a few hours of play. If anyone has any solutions or ideas on what to do please let me know. I gather its something wrong with the graphics but is it the card or just the PC messing up? Its a 8800 GTX btw

This is the error report i get:

hmmm after its happening for a l ong period of time i wonder if its some sort of heat issue. whe this crashes can you them imediatly start playing again ?

can you check the temp of yoru card ?

Sometimes it works again but then keeps crashing after, usually a reboot sorts it for a while. How would i go about checking the card temp? btw the PC is the Ultima OC 8800GTX i got on here if thats any help.

i guess is spossible allthough the coler you mention is on the cpu. i would have thought it was more the gfx that may be over heating. if after chaning the cooler setting like you have it dont crash then problem solved. it does sound more like a heat thing from what you say. rebooting may give a few seconds break allowing the temps to drop enoigh for it to continue for a while.

i have never used a nvidia card soo not sure what software comeswith it. on ati cards you get catalyst control center and you an see gfx temps in there.

Start with the latest drivers.

Then, if problem persists, monitor your GPU temps under load (i.e. run Rivatuner Hardware Monitor whilst running 3DMark06). See if anything abnromal.

What PSU are you using with the GTX and what is the rest of your spec?
