Mine just came on yesterday too, along with the temp gauge climbing up as normal a third of the way up then drops to the bottom after 20 mins - thermostat is another possibility...

Of course they can. Sensors can give the odd anomalous reading which shows as a fault until it's either self-reset or reset with a diagnostic machine.

All sorts of these this week, and they've all gone out on their own. I bet it's just ECUs thinking temperature related sensors are out of range, or struggling to heat up lambda probes.

Random Nissan survey tbh, reporting back usage statistics for how many people actually stop driving the car when a warning light comes on. Then they cross-reference this with insurance details to try to get an estimate of how many of those who didn't stop were women.

Yep, my Honda did a while back. An ECU reset and a hoon fixed it

Seconding the ECU reset (easiest way would be to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes) and see if it comes back.

You don't state what year or revision of Micra you have (I'm guessing a K12 from the dash, but not too sure about Micras) but there seems to be a way to read the fault codes without a trip to the stealer. You'll need to google harder than I could be bothered to do though.

I bet it's the lambda sensor
