I currently have the gear in my sig in an M59 mid tower.

I'd like it all quietened down a bit and am currently trying to decide between:

The Define XL

and R3

I guess the main thing is the case has to fit the NH-D14

Other than that I basically want the one with the best noise:cooling

Initially I was thinking the XL, but looking around a bit people seem to favour the R3.

What do you think? Are there any better options in the same price range (up to about£90-£100)?

Just really size difference between those two.
All the Defines are pretty similar in price. Just depends what you want to fit.
Personally would go for the R3, because I imagine lifting and moving the XL for servicing would not be so fun.

^ +1. Same cases, different sizes. If its going to sit in one place, get the XL, if your going to move it every now and again, get the R3.

Ok, yea it's just going to sit under my desk hence thinking about the XL. Only really considered the R3 cos of the good OC3D review.

The R3 does appear to have better cooling, basically the addition of a 120/140mm in the bottom of the case and the 2 120/140mm's in the top opposed to the single 180mm.

Am swaying towards the XL atm, mainly because in my M59 the install is an absolute pain. The limited space between the NH-D14 and top fans means I have to inert the MB with cooler attached otherwise it's impossible :/ Do you think I'd have the same problem with the R3?

Looks fine to me :)

Does that rig have the two top fans installed? It looks like it doesn't. The install in the M59 is fine without the top fans, just with them in it's a pain and I'll be kicking myself if it's the same situation with the R3

Hmmm, im not sure, from the picture it looks like they are using the sound dampening instead. If some one else can clarify this, that would be great.

If you want to be 100% sure, get the XL and have heaps of room to play with :)

I think the XL it is then.

Thanks for your help :)

Edit: Just ordered the XL so will be having a play tomorrow/the weekend
