Help - which fan do I use Q6600

I just upgraded my CPU from a Q6600 to a Q9650, I decided to put my old CPU in my daughters PC, which current has a first gen 6300 in it. I now have

1. Q6600
2. e6300
3. A HSF with a larger heatsink but a fan that only pulls 1.4amps
4. A HSF (smaller) with a fan that draws 2.0Amps

Does anyone now which fan goes with which processor please??

If anyone has a stock intel cooler on their Q6600 could they have a peek and let me know what numbers are on teh fan label please.

I really would appreciate a quickish reply - daughters PC is in bits (I like to take the motherboard out to apply the push pin heatsinks because I never trust that they are fully in otherwise).

Many thanks

My stock Q6600 HSF pulls 0.40 A

I would imagine its the bigger one for the Q6600. Has a nice chunky copper core in it.

Got it

All installed and working. The fan is pretty poor but will do the job , I used an artic 7 with it before, but am now using this on the Q9650 (the fan I got with the new Q9650 was appalling!!).

Prime95 for half an hour takes the Q6600 cores up to 71C-ish - is that OK?

Many thanks

Thats fine. Yea the 9XXX quads are 45nm and generally a whole lot cooler at stock than the 65nm B3s' G0s etc.. so require a lot less beefy sink for cooling, hence money saved by intel etc...

Just one further question if I may, I put the stock fan on my old Q6600 on a giga-byte
G41M E2SL - I always take the boards out when using push pins - after I put the fan on the board had a noticeable bend in it, quite disconcerting really - it all works still I just wondered whether this was normal and should I look to replace the HSF with a fan that doesn't ben th eboard - many thanks

Bend?
Are all the mobo screws in?

Also those temps are high for stock, push pins don't have enough force to spread paste properly so you might need to push it down and give it a twist, then push pins in :)

swapped stock fan for an arctic7, bend has now disappeared, thankfully (the rev2 is so much nicer to put in than the first issue).... Now temps: Idle is circa 28C for all cores - prime95 cores are around 42C after an hour - pretty pleased.

Northbridge is still hot to the touch, I can keep my finger on the northbridge but it does feel pretty warm/hot - is this something to be concerned about?

Cheers

The artic7 is very good value for money and should be louds quieter i imagine too. I think the Northbridge heatsink should be quite warm as its drawing the heat away from the components beneath.
