Hello everyone, I know we have a few watch fans on here so I wanted to pick your brains.

I am in the market for a new watch for my birthday as a treat, so far I have found two that I really like the look of and have tried both on.

The first: Emporio Armani Ceramica watch I am cautious that I am not buying a high quality watch in terms of the movement inside the case, the strap and face case being made of Ceramica is very high quality but then without this coating you can pretty much buy a smilier watch for £200 less from the same site.

The second: Citizen Eco Drive 8700 Black Ion-Plated I already have the silver stainless steel version of this which has been excellent for 5 years, never serviced it and it has stood up well against very hard knocks. With this ion-plated version I am cautious about the black ion-plated strap and face fading.

What do you all think? I like the idea of a non service watch .

I could potentially buy this Rotary and the Citizen watch for the same price as the Armani watch.

At least it's quartz.

If your going to spend a lot, do yourself a favour and stay away from armani and branded watches. Buy a proper watch made by a proper company, not just a cheap watch with 4-500 worth of brand stickered onto it.

Doesnt have to be tag, breitling etc if you cant afford it, look at tissot, pulsar etc if you want to spend less as long as its properly made.

have a citizen ecodrive myself and am very happy with it. the 5 year guarantee was my main reason for buying what i would consider an expensive watch.

Thanks, that is what I thought... I do not want to pay £500 for a watch that isn't that high quality internally.

How about this Rotary or this Seiko?

Both look ok, Armani one is a nice looking watch but if you spending that sort of money i would spend it on a dedicated watch manufacturer. I would have to say the Citizen then. Oooor lower the budget get a good make watch AND a nice pair of Armani jeans :p

Thanks for the feedback, I do love the looks of the Armani watch but don't fancy spending £500 on a fashion watch with cheap internal workings.

Ernest Jones have a deal on that gives you £100 off your next purchase meaning I could possibly have the Citizen and the Seiko or the Rotray for the price of the Armani watch

As a watch maker what are Tissot, Rotary and Seiko like? Their prices seem to be up and down depending on where you look.
