Help...Which watch?

Seiko are Japanese, Tissot and Rotary are both Swiss. Rotary apparently are now based in the UK and use a lot of far Eastern movements in their cheaper watches. Tissot are still Swiss, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same with regard to cheap movements.

In reality it is still a watch made from bought in parts and assembled by a subcontractor, it will be decent biuld quality but not really a great watch, if you must then look for 20% + discount
 
Thanks Rotty but what would you recommend at the £800 price range? I want a very well made watch that will look great.

I can get that Tag watch from a high street chain for about £635 that's from a voucher and 14% cash back from topcashback.
 
As said, have a look for a 2nd hand automatic Seamaster, may be a little more but not much and you will always get all your money back if you sell

the 2nd of those is mid size which by current trends ir really a womans size now, the last is, as you say, not ideal being quartz but it's a hell of a good price

Yah the price on the last one is very good but I just could find it in my to pay that much for a quartz watch, however if its that or the TAG the Omega would win hands down
 
Thank you for all the tips everyone, in the end I went with this beautiful watch:

It's a Tag Auqaracer automatic Calibre 5 that retails at £1175 but I got 15% discount and had a £300 gift card for Ernest Jones.

I love the sweeping of the seconds hand and is my first automatic watch. I do like the Omega Seamasters but at the moment they are just over budget.

Not as often as that. 5 years is more like it, if it's running constantly.

Not sure on costs, but if you can find such a thing as a watchmaker (the dodo is more common I think), then it should be <£100 for such a simple movement.
