So basically I'm a newb to building computers. A few weeks ago the guys on this forum helped me build a budget AMD build using the A10-5800K APU. When shipping the goods overclockers had to change the memory and the mobo as they were out of stock. I reassured to them to make sure they change it to equivalent components as I'm not too good with it all so I trusted them to put it right. Come to build the PC and after about 6 hours of sweat I finally got the PC running sweet as a nut! However come to plug in my moniter (VGA or HDMI) and the idiot at OcUK had put in this mobo! http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/F2A55/ With no VGS or HDMI points! And because im using an APU I have no extra GPU with video connections so can't use the pc!! After some more help on the forum.. the guys said I would be best off crossfiring it with this.. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-257-AS However they were not 100% sure if the motherboard etc was compatible for the crossfiring? So I was helping some of you on this sub forum would help me out :)

It says the motherboard has "Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support!" on the website..?

Or alternatively do I need to change my motherboard? Originally (from the help of OcUK forum members) I had bought this motherbaord!.. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-426-GI Which I'm guessing would have been fine!!? :(

Help please guys lol

If this is a prebuilt system you got from ocuk thyen you need to return the entire system and ask for a suitable replacement motherboard.

I think youd lose your warranty on the system if you changed the board yourself :)

I built it myself.. says in the post somewhere lol..

thats why I'm thinking just put that asus 6670 on and crossfire? But need to know If the motherboard and apu etc are compatible..?

From what you have wrote i get the impression that that mobo has no HDMI or VGA outputs to the monitor ? am i correct?

If thats the case then by looks of the motherboard it has no crossfire as it only has 1 pci express socket, So ignoring the onboard graphics ( build into the CPU ) any graphics card would work fine at a cost to you, If you wanted to use the APU then that motherboard cannot use it, I would swap the motherboard as it will be less costly, or get a graphics card and use / plug everything into the new card.

Hopefully i understand your problem correctly and this helps.

Yes, I have no VGA or HDMI so im stumped lol.
however my mobo says on it CrossfireX by one of the pci slots.. and on the website description to my mobo it says it has 'Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support!' And apprently I have x2 PCI-E 16x and x1 PCI-E

here is the link to the mobo on OcUK.. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-546-AS

Been told by a few others I can crossfire but with a maximum GPU of a HD6670 and im best going with a DDR5?

Ok, a single graphics card will get you up and running no problem, you could in theory get any graphics card you wanted as long as your power supply is a decent brand and over 500 watts to be safe. Crossfire is only needed whilst playing demanding games or multi monitors using 2 graphics cards so it depends on what you are using the PC for? If it is for gaming then i'd suggest get a better single graphics card rather than 2 mediocre cards for crossfire.

As far as i am aware you cannot crossfire the onboard APU with a dedicated graphics card so a different motherboard with HDMI and VGA is needed or a dedicated graphics card, But like i said the better the card the less you need to worry about crossfire.

Any more questions im sure people will help you out.

You CAN crossfire with the oboard APU on these chips. A 6670 will be fine :)
