Hey Guys,

I'm trying to find the a mobo to run windows 2003 server with the following
- onboard VGA
- 6 or more SATA 2 ports
- 1 or more ATA ports
- Gigabit Lan
- Socket 775

I thought I'd found what I wanted with the Gigabyte GA-G33-DS3R but it turns out it uses the Realtek RTL8111B lan chip and there's no driver for Windows 2003 for that.

Does anyone have other suggestions I could consider?

Cheers

I know, I did the same but the download doesn't exist and various other people have stated that these drivers aren't available. Any suggestions for alternatives?

You can probably use the XP driver. I can use my RTL8111B on x64 XP and it's just a fancy x64 Server 2003.

This is quite likely spot on. We build a lot of 2k3 servers and when there have been times where a manu is slow to release a 2k3 official driver, we have used the xp driver without issue.

Even if the OP couldn't use the XP drivers is there any reason why he couldn't just disable the on board LAN and buy a PCI LAN card, which are cheap, that is compatible..?

No of course not :) but if it was me, I would also be wanting to use the onboard pci-e lan ideally. He could something like a broadcom pci-e 1x lan card for peanuts from a certain place ;).

Thought so :)
As you realise you can buy a suitable card for very little cost but by doing that it would allow him to buy the motherboard of his choice, rather than compromise on the rest of the board in just trying to find one that is compatible.

I take your point but those PCI slots can be used :D
