Help with 2x r290 crossfire problem

Smart move :) We did actually re-boot after the AB install, had that confirmed and ULPS was disabled in registry so its not that. Hope to god NVidia do a deal for the next bf game. Frustrating my plans went pear shaped with ATI as I was planning on crossfire when the price dropped, now looks like I will be out of pocket selling the r290 for something that actually works.

Game ran fine for me on two different 290p crossfire setups. Around 150fps at 1080p.
This was a few months ago though.

The reference cooler is actually better for crossfire so no need to write it off in this scenario. What is the gpu utilisation whilst playing BF4

It may have been down to ULPS and AB shouldn't be causing any issues that I know of or have experienced.
PSU is ok unless you want to go nuts with overclocking.

BF4 should run fine with xfire (does for me anyway), so it probably is down to a couple of settings.

If you get a chance to try his card again, set up AB like this: (It's what I use and it works fwiw :D)

He wants UOC enabled and make his own clock profiles...

Please dont spread bad information.

Bad information that works perfectly for me and many others?

UOC had a negative effect when I had it enabled (on Hawaii. Not on Tahiti for example) and yes, he could/should make his own clock profiles, but that isn't required to simply get xfire working in the
first place.
I certainly didn't need UOC enable to do any of the benches I've posted here.

ED:
How about you explain why it's bad advice and also why he needs to enable unofficial overclocking to get two cards working well in BF4? Bonus points for doing it without being a ****.

Alright so calm down m9.

His issue probably wont be fixed by running xfire in UOC. So yea, unneeded post. Forget i ever said that.

I'll bet actual money that if you do this, it'll work:

1. Uninstall drivers (use DDU or whatever)
2. Add 2nd card
3. Reinstall drivers
4. Change the settings in AB

Obviously do the required reboots.

Either way, it's no skin off my nose and I hope you're happy with whatever solution you end up with :)

You want to use the uninstaller for the AMD driver before you run DDU because DDU wont clean everything, itll leave a lot of **** on your PC.

Ok thanks people i might give it one more shot if i can get the card back to try..just swapped my i5 cpu out for a i7 2600k bf4 cpu usage has dropped so thats something at least :)

I disable ULPS on my 290's and they scale perfectly, although I had a redscreen issue, but that was solved by upping the CPU voltage slightly.

Update..i got a second card and got crossfire working fine although heat is an issue now. The top card hits 94 degees so bound to be throttling :( i have a corsair carbide case and so far have replaced the stock large side fan with 2x corsair 140mm quiet fans to try suck wam air from cards and have 2x corsair 120mm intake fans in font of case i have tried all combinations and took the rear slot plate out betwen cards to no avail. Wish i knew this and i would have got a Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X for the top card. Looks like i will have to live with it just a shame i cannot knock a few degrees off the top cards temps..and i cannot space cards any better than they are.
