Evening lads, long term member but not a regular poster and could do with some pointers for my next monitor.

Currently using 2x Benq G2420HDBL monitors i bought from here a long time ago, TN tech and budget even back then. Im not really using the second monitor for much so wanting to upgrade to a single 32" monitor to clean the desk space up. I am not sure which or what to get. GPU is a 1080TI but i don't play to many new games but what games i do are in a darkened room most of the time. I need the cable to exit the monitor from below as i plan to wall mount it.

I think i have it down to these:

Gigabyte M32U or M32Q
Corsair 32QHD165

Should these be a worthy upgrade from the old hat stuff i already have? any negatives to these and would it be worthy to go for the 4K M32U even if my GPU might struggle with it?

Finger is over the buy button.

Cheers

Cheers for the info Whitestar85.

I do like the Samsung models, but they are far too deep from my desk. pity.

So if i bought the 4k version and ran it at 1440p it would look just as good as the Q model which is 1440p only? Then get a future GPU upgrade for 4K.

For darkened room self emissive pixel tech would be by far the best, because of true black.
But unfortunately there are still no such 4K monitors.

Properly implemented FALD backlight would be the next best, but it costs lot over non-FALD backlight.
(and even super high price isn't guarantee of good tuning for minimizing halos)

With traditional backlight VA's highest contrast of LCDs would give best looking image in darkened room.
But VA selection doesn't really include 4K panels.
(and that contrast comes at the price of "challenges" elsewhere)
IPS really isn't good for completely darkened room (at least without A-TW polarizer and/or FALD backlight) and needs some background illumination.

Thinking doing that, buy a 32 inch to 38 inch 4K monitor and switch to 1440p in more demanding game's, with my old eye's probably wont see the difference.
Waiting on QD Oled monitor though sometime next year, but really 1440p monitor is still very good.

The Gigabyte M32Q is a good 1440p monitor for the money, don't think there is any good 4K 32 inch gaming monitor's so not worth the extra money imo would rather pay bit more and get the 32'' QD Oled Alienware UW 1440p monitor.

Well thanks for the help, took the plunge at the M32U in the end. Boy its an improvement from my old TN 24" monitors but takes up a lot of desk space. Will wall mount it over the weekend.
Happy purchase from me.
Cheers

I have the M32Q and it's an excellent monitor, I do find 1440P at 32inch is perhaps a bit large, ( i.e .the pixel pitch isn't as tight as I would like ) for me though, 4K would be well suited to 32 inch I think. I have a 27 inch 1440 monitor right next to the 32 inch and it does provide a slightly more pleasing image generally as it's just a bit sharper. I think you made an excellent choice with the M32U ...and the 1080Ti is still a very capable card, it will drive quite a lot of stuff at 4K fairly well even, you may find you don't need to drop to 1440P as often as you might have thought.
