Help with 4 monitor setup

My setup...

Gigabyte DS3 (1 PCI Express X16 slot, 3 PCI Express X1 slot)
Nvidia 8800GTS (2x DVI)
1x Dell 2407wfp

I need to add 3x 24" monitors (preferably Dell 2408s or similar). I can easily add another monitor in the secondary 8800 port, but do I simply add another card for the other 2 monitors? Which card will fit in a PCIe x1 slot? my current 8800 is in the PCIe x16 (whatever that means).

Any advice is appreciated.
 
Probably best off with a matrox triple head 2 go although having never used one I could be wrong.

if you want four monitors (one desktop - not clones of each other) then you will need a second graphics card. your current card can power two displays.

As far as i'm aware PIC-Ex1 gpus dont exist.

The only option you have on your mobo would be to find a PCI GPU - these can be picked up very cheaply as it is OLD tech. and use this to power the other two.
