So yes another spec thread. Sorry :D

My gf needs a new system to replace her ancient computer. She's currently got an AMD Duron socket A thing that barely chugs along with 512mb DDR so even a budget spec is gonna be a massive upgrade.

Computer will be used for uni work/office/some coding, general internet/music/dvd watching type stuff and a bit of light gaming.

Budget is 400 but can go up to 450 as an absolute max.
Don't need an OS, a monitor or DVD drive, do need everything else.

I came up with this:

Delivery doesn't need to be included as we live close enough to drive to the shop to get it.

Opinions?

Looks good. Should be nice once its overclocked. If you're not gonna o/c it, I'd get a quicker processor

Oh yeah should have mentioned that it would be overclocked. Was hoping to get it to at least 2.6ghz, 3ghz if possible.

EDIT: Went for the Corsair as I have had two sets of that RAM and know how it behaves when overclocking. :D Will consider the Geil though. It overclocks pretty well yeah?

Yeah I've seen Tuniqs mentioned as pretty much the best heatsink. Was just trying to keep the price down tbh. If I swap the corsair for the geil ram I'll probably get a tuniq with the savings. That keeps me at about the same budget I think.

I'm not sure how important the modular power supply is to you, but you could safely drop it down to a Corsair vx450w and use the money saved to bump the e2140 up to an e2180 (the higher multi should give better overclocking results shouldn't it?).

Assuming the change to Geil ram and the purchase of a Tuniq cooler as well that would bring you in at £447.52

Funnily enough I had that psu/cpu combo when I started the spec but I decided to pump the psu up against future upgrades. Hmmm. Think I will go for 450 and the 2180. Cheers for making my mind up!

yeah, definitly go for the GeIL memory, it overclocks really well. I think you could save more money by going for the Corsair VX450 as the Corsair PSU's are rock solid.

If you plan to overclock, then get a Tuniq Tower.
