Help with a 1440p new build/pre-built

Hey,

Looking for some advice on a fresh build please. Got advice from here around 6 years ago which was helpful so came back.

Been looking at the pre-built for convenience but would rather build it myself. Is there much difference between pre-built vs building myself?

Wanting to move up to 1440p with a budget around £1500, need a monitor too but not counting that in this budget.

Used mostly for gaming Civ6, halo infinite god of war mix of games really.

My general view is you can tailor every part with a self build where pre-build may have some component maybe the PSU or motherboard that's cut back to a minimum spec. to support the headline parts such as the CPU or GPU so they can make a profit etc.

Doesn't mean they are bad builds just not every part will be a special edition or highly rated feature packed example. PSU could be a non-modular plain part with ugly wires. RAM could be slower than desired with no XMP profile support stuff like that.

You can buy a pre-build and get most parts as you want and a good builder will also be able to swap parts out that arent normally offered in that rig but they might charge you for that privilidge. You also get a warrenty overall if that means much to you.

Looking at building yourself. I have stuck to items in stock and a few items I would normally use are not available atm :(

There is a better cooler that I would prefer but OCUK dont stock it so you would ned to purchase elsewhere.


Also the corsair rm 750x. Its more expensive but offers a 10 year warrenty vs 7 years on the E model.

Makes sense from a profit point of view, had pre-builts before not had a problem with them.

out of the 2 which would be more future proof? planning on upgrading parts over the years.

Just looking at the intel build its got DDR4 motherboard but DDR5 RAM, is that ok together? trying to figure out how all these parts fit together.

I made a mistake by spec ATX board with M-ATX case, but swap for Asus (or MSI) B760M-A WIFI, which is actually a bit cheaper.

No it must be a ddr5 board. My bad. DDR5 boards are about another £50+ over the ddr4 board price.

The most 'future proof' will be tbe am5 build as AMD have said they will support it for several years with other cpu's.
