Help with a decent soundbar.

I recently got the Sonos ARC and sub, sold my YSP2700, and I agree the ysp2700 is a great soundbar, I'm more than happy with my sonos now though, as I seem to stream a lot more now, so DTS is not such an issue for me. I may have considered another Yamaha soundbar but could not see anything new from them, with atmos, hdmi 2.1 and so on.
Bigger soundstage on Sonos ARC and hard hitting bass from the sub, the ysp2700 sub was used for the mids as well so I guess that's why I notice a difference with the sonos sub.

The Sonos arc is £800 on its own then what another £700+ for the sub?

£1500 puts you into the Samsung top of the range territory which comes with rear speakers as well as Atmos.

You cannot compare the ysp 2700 with a setup that is double the price. That isn't fair but if you did it shows you how good the ysp 2700 is for only half the price.

I wasn’t comparing as such, just saying my thoughts on both, I was not thinking about the price points between them either. I paid considerably less for the arc and sub with discount codes as well.
But yes the ysp2700 is a great soundbar, one of the best for connections and supporting various sound codecs and HDR passthrough, Yamaha should really bring out a similar bar with atmos, HDMI 2.1 support.

I quite like the Sonos sub as well as it can be placed anywhere and even on its side, so can be placed underneath seats for example or behind sofa.

I bought a Sonos Arc, Sub and 1’s as rears, then a Beam for the bedroom too. It’s easy to setup and “Wife friendly”. The full 5.1 system before would always have niggles.... this just works...

Oh, I also use a Acana unit to get Atmos sound from my 2018 LG Tv

Edit:: Forgot to say, got 30% off it all also by buying Sonos Bridges and trading them in at SevenOaks.

Yeah, if Samsung had actually supported their products properly they would have ran away with No. 1 soundbar for the past few years.

The sound quality can’t be matched as a number of reviews show but the software issues mean a lot of people end up returning them or selling them on.

The LG bars don’t even make the top 5 on most sites. They’ve stepped it up a bit this year with the SN11RG, however, they still have a way to go to match the Samsung on the measurable tests.

I was looking at the Samsung and Sony sets in the £1500 range but bought the Sonos ARC instead for £730 even though it wasn't initially even on my radar. I didn't hear any of them before purchasing, just trawled reviews. I only really do streaming but I'm quite liking it so far to be honest, I've got high-end-ish speakers/headphones so I know what decent sound is - while the ARC probably isn't going to compete with a decent separates system, I think it does well. Even music sounds decent through it, it's a pleasing sound and sounds good objectively but you'll likely just have to try them out yourself and decide. What sounds good to one person sounds rubbish to another person. Soundbars SQ in general also seem largely dependent on the room you put them in. The only pain I have at the moment with it is that I'm an Android guy so I can't run the custom setup for the room, damn you Sonos, that is very annoying but I'll just have to borrow a mates iPhone at some point. Most reviews seem to put the Samsung "slightly" higher up on SQ alone but mention that the whole package otherwise isn't that great due to various issues - I just wanted less hassle. Might pick up the Sub (Gen2/3) and/or rears at some point but quite happy so far with just the ARC at the mo.

I know it’s probably a dirty word around here but what do people think of the Bang and Olufsen Beosound Stage?

It’s only HDMI 2.0 and can’t be linked to rears or a sub but otherwise, it can do ATMOS and eARC, it obviously looks gorgeous and the reviews are favourable in terms of sound quality.

Yeah I am fully Android too, but have an older version iPad kept just for trueplay haha. Changes the quality so much of the arc that it's worth buying an old one just to use for it. Seems to tune it better with an iPad that a iPhone as well. Not sure why maybe the mics bigger, never really been into apple.
