Basically, my web host went under for a while and disappeared off the edge of the world, not a problem I thought, I would just wait for my domain registration to expire it was only about a week away, well no such luck, my web host came back and is now ignoring me and it now seems that some company has now registered my domain name when I was not looking, is there anything I can do to get my domain back as I was rather fond of it?

The people who have bought it seem to be a company so it is probably a lost cause, its just generally annoying as I will have to think of a new domain name now.

Edit: Silly spelling mistake on my part, my domain hasnt been registered by someone else, but the question remains, I have no control over the domain and my registrar is ignoring me.

If the domain expired and was put back into the general pot and someone else now has it there is nothing you can do.

Well ok the company thing turns out to be a spelling mistake on my part (delvag / devlag), but the question still remains, is there any way to get the domain back under my control if my registrar is ignoring me, I have thought about going up to enom who it seems my registrar uses, but they cant help me apparently.

And yes devlag.net is the site

With it being a .net, it would be much easier if you can just get the company to give you control back or allow you to transfer it out.

When you say they are ignoring you, how hard have you tried to contact them?

Just having a quick look, and heres some contact information I have found:

[email protected]
[email protected]
+1.8773879134

P.O. Box 243
Cape May Court House
New Jersey,08210
US

There are also some forums on their site. I would try all these avenues of contact and you must be able to get through to one of the two guys it looks like runs this rubbish little micky mouse outfit.

Just keep it civil but be persistent until they can't be bothered to deal with you anymore and allow you to transfer your domain to a proper company like free parking or 123 reg.

Edit: Also thought I'd add that as the domain has already expired a few days ago, its obviously been suspended and the renewal costs for them as an enom reseller will go up from $12.50 to $160 in a few weeks if they don't renew it.

I have sent an email a week to those addresses, nothing has come back at all, their website disappeared for a few weeks and is now back, so I am going to say that those emails have disappered into the ether.

I joined up there because it was around £2.50 a month for hosting and as a ******* about site it was fine, should have jumped ship when they started only accepting paypal.

Anyone suggest a decent web host, I am looking at DreamHost, as they give me SVN and full unix shell, plus the discount codes are nice, $50 off + 1 unique IP + 2 domains for life.

edit: Thanks to the Mod who put this thread in the right place
