Help with a router!!

Hi there,

My dad recently purchased a router a NETGEAR WGT624 off fleabay, but unfortunately it did not come with an installation cd as it says you can download off the website....im not sure this is true as I have been on the website and you can only download the manual and a firmware update. It would appear that my dad has been fleeced, even though he didn't consult me before buying (I would have said no had it not come with installation manual and cd).So my question is, is there any way i can install the drivers etc for it without the cd or am I doomed, as having a router that i cannot now install

PS: I have tried plugging it all in and then trying to configure the router (obviously this didnt work). it was a refurbished one, and had I known I would have told my dad NOT to order it.....

Any help much appreciated....
 
Can't you reset it?

If you can, it should default to an IP like 192.168.1.1 and you should be able to configure via your browser.
 
I plugged it all in and I typed in the URL to configure the router but it still didn't work and neither did the URL 192.168.1.1 whichh is the URL it tells you to type in on the actual router itself? :(
 
Reset the router to it's factory defaults. Maybe the last user had the IP address set to something different. On the back of the router, between the USB port and the aerial, there is a small hole. Inside that hole is the reset switch. Use a pin or similar to press the switch and reset the router.
 
Thanks ns400r and Triad 2000, I did type the URL in mozilla so maybe that was the problem :( (man i feel dumb!) Never mind I will give it a try again tomorrow and see if it works, thanks again dudes.....

EDIT: Thanks dude I will try and give it a reset as well so hopefully that will works. Thanks for the quick replies :)
