Hi All,

I've got a HP Microserver and absolutely love the machine, however the lack of drive bays is a severe limitation. My ideal plan is to purchase this case Fractal Design Define XL and just jam it full of HDDs as I go along. My initial purchase will consist of case, motherboard, cpu, cooler, ram and 2 3TB hard drives.

I know which hard drives I want but I'm lost on the CPU & motherboard.
The main uses of the machine will be to stream 1080p to 1 Raspberry Pi and 1 Acer Revo. Not transcoding, just straight streaming.

I've not really got a real budget in mind but I want to make sure that it's not drawing a lot of power.

This is an idea of what I thought might be appropriate.

Any changes or better ideas?

One of the issues I've got a problem with is that I can only use 6 Sata drives, if I wanted to use 7 or so how would I get around that?

Really no need for a quad.
Quiet and very low power and serves 4PCs and 2 HTPCs just fine.
If you use up the 8 Sata ports then use one of this lot

Obviously the price can be dropped if you don't want to spend out on a PSU.

That's brilliant news about the PCI-E card, I should be able to fit in 8 hard drives then.
At 3TB each that'll give me 24TB which should suffice :D
