Hi all
Yesterday got my first ever SSD a vertex2e 120gb, So after doing a bit of reading I installed it everything went fine fresh install of windows but when it booted up it took longer to get into windows than my samsung, I then realised I had not reset my system so my overclock was still active so I put a post up about if that would cause it I had a couple of replies that it shouldnt make a difference so I kept on looking, it was then I realised I had not put on any windows updates which I then did and the problem sorted it self out from windows splash screen to desk top took about 5 seconds instead of the 20+ it was taking.
This is where another problem came up I had installed all my drivers apart from my sound which I did xonar DX restarted my system and I was back to sitting on the welcome screen for 20 seconds plus, so I uninstalled the driver but the problem was still there.
The question I have then is can a driver cause this sort of problem or should I be looking at another underlying fault I sat here for 4 hours last night trying to work it out, in the end I did a fresh install and everything is back to what it should be and have installed all my drivers now apart from sound
Thanks in advance
