Help with an upgrade

Hey all.

Looking at getting an upgrade for my Q6600 this xmas from the wife and i just need clarification on a few things. I already have my HDD's, GPU, PSU (potentially, its a Corsair HX550. i think its ok for what i need) sorted but i need to make sure im not forgetting anything.

going with the 4670k with that motherboard will require a third party cpu cooler making it similar/more than(depending on the cooler chosen) than what I speced.

I have a 3rd party cooler. Would i need to purchase a special one though for the k?
