Hi folks,

I stupidly let my nephew use my pc, now i seem to have some malware on my internet browsers.
every time i open a page it brings up a new page of spam/adverts etc

I have ran malware-bytes and security essentials with no results, I have reset firefox and ran ccleaner to clear all cache and cookies etc but the malware is still there.

pages like dailychance-info and launchpage.org keep popping up

any help or advice please

Ali

Check add\remove programs for installed ad software.

I have had customers at work install software which installs ad software so when you open up web pages it loads ads that are not normally there on the site.

once the software is removed it should stop.

So I finally got my pc to boot into safe mode after 3rd attempt, malwarebytes found stuff and said it removed it but when i booted into normal mode it was still there, adwcleaner seem to do the job and so far it looks ok.
im gonna run all the others as suggested anyway, I also got sophos anti-virus from I.T guys at work for free so im no longer running ms essentials ( it was free being part of the uni)

thanks for your help and advice.

Unfortunately it's never going to be as simple as running programs to do all the work for you. Malwarebytes etc are great, but when it comes to these adware hompage/search engine hijackers they can be a right ball-ache.
It also depends on what internet browsers you have installed.
I've removed annoying adware many times in the past, Chrome can need some special attention, as will IE etc.
*edit* removed link to list of guides, as it was a bit gash on further inspection

Just to add, I would recommend googling each malware individually, as the steps to properly remove can be convoluted and vary.
Quite often they seem like they are removed, but they're residing as an extension in Chrome of IE and completely re-infect your system when you use these browsers.

i only use firefox, dont think ive even got IE installed!
ive had a google around and checked places where people recommend and it seems ok, I plan on upgrading to win10 soon'ish anyway so will be fresh install.

This really worries me. My Mum managed to get malware installed on her iMac (yeah I know so much for Apple security) and I've given her my gaming laptop. Currently she only uses Microsoft Edge as her web browser and occasionally uses Office 2013 Professional. I haven't given her the admin password (and the user account she uses is just a standard account) in the hopes that it will stop her installing anything really bad but I'm still worried she might manage to get something bad installed on the machine. It is running Windows 10 Home.

Is there any software I can buy / install on Windows 10 that will stop these sort of things from being installed in the first place?

I found resetting the browsers usually helps as well after running ADWCleaner.

Alternatively if it's really bad, do a fresh reinstall.
