What do you believe are the key skills and behaviours to demonstrate when interacting with a customer?

I have

Eye contact,
politeness,
good knowledge of products,

anything else?

serious reply please

facepalm

whatever you gorm
Not exactly sure what a gorm is, but from your posts I assume you have never had a job where you dealt with customers before because empathy is one of the most important things you need to have, or at the very least demonstrate an understanding of.

empathy != compassion or sympathy. You need to see the view from the other side of the fence so to speak. Which is empathy.

why would i have to be sympathetic or compassionate in a retail job though.. ?

You wouldn't. You would have to be empathetic. It's not about sympathy. It means to see something from somebody else's views. In retail, you want to see things from the customer's point of view to understand what he wants/why/what price etc.

not really appropriate for a retail job though..
Well it's up to you what to put there in the end as you know the role you're applying for a lot better than us...

But if you let us know exactly what kind of position it is we may be able to give you better answers and/or offer examples.

its a job at orange phone shop. The next question is How do you ensure you meet your individual or team targets?

and stupid quesiton.. is helpfullness a word ?!

In that case I would say empathy would be great to put down, one of the key interpretations of empathy is being able to "put yourself in someone else's shoes" or "see things from their perspective" definitely helpful if you're trying to sell phones/contracts to people.

Positive attitude, planning, monitoring and communication.

Just a few points but you get the general idea.

Yes (with one "L" in ful), but I wouldn't use it, it's very vague.
