I have skyrim dlc code that my mate wants to buy. His logic being that if he signs in with his gamer tag on his brothers xbox and redeems the code and Downloads the game he then can re download on his own console and they can both have the game. I think that it's too simple a way to effectively get a game for free. What's your thoughts.

Unless they have changed things then yes he can, the DLC will be available for anyone on the console it was downloaded on originally and then the profile that bought it can re-download it on any console and play as long as signed into live.

Which still means no to the OP's question.

DLC is licenced to the console purchased on as well as the account purchased with, so yes you can download the content on to any console, however all but the original console used will have to be connected to live at the time for the content to work.

I can't imagine OP is talking about setting his account into offline mode, surely his brother will have his own saves and gamertag that he would want to use?

What Mr Men said. Its tied to the console its purchased on which allows anyone to use it on that console and its also tied to the gamertag so that the game can be played by that gamertag on any console.

Works with most DLC and other stuff. I did this method with my BF3 back to karakand edition online pass and my brother never even had to use his pass and we both got the maps. Did it with Blops 1 map packs. and many market place purchases.

I don't think this has changed recently. in a worst case scenario the OP cant lose if it doesn't work. He can always download the game to his console and do a licence transfer if necessary.

Every account has access to DLC downloaded on the same console, did not know that. Does this work for all DLC or just certain ones?

I have a US account and an EU account - obviously both are totally different. When I was given codes for PSN games to review (on a small site) they were always US codes but once downloaded I could play them using my EU account.
It's the console, not the user account that downloads are tied to.
Hope that helps to clear things up.

edit: Looks like I was beaten to it - so... what Mr Men said is correct.

To answer the OP, and to confirm what Mr Men said. He will be fine. But he will need to use the code on his console while signed in to his siblings account. Then when they move the siblings account back to his xbox the dlc should work for both.

All DLC. All Arcade games. All downloaded games. Shared an xbox with the missus a few times over the years when our second xbox was being upgraded etc.

So two accounts on one system but only needing to buy the games/dlc on one account to play on both.
