help with assembling my new pc...

i suppose i have to put the usb in that one in the bottom-center

If I am not mistaken, their is a blue port without a "housing" around it that looks like it says USB1112 under it? Which I would have thought were refering to USB ports 11 and 12, so that would be where I would plug it in to.

Refer to the motherboard manual till you find layouts of the motherboard and it says what all the connectors are, and there is usually a page specifically for the front panel connectors telling you where to put what. Most of them dont matter which way around they go as long as they are in the right place, LED's need to go around the right way otherise they wont work, so use trial and error if you cant figure out which is + and -.

You also need to plug in the 24 pin PSU cable thats next to your ram cooler (the white thing above it in your picture), and there is a little white 4 pin connector near the CPU (on the left by the red/black heatsink, and has a capacitor next to it) that you need to plug in.

What sort of person buys a super duper expensive "overclocking" board, and uses the default intel CPU cooler? :D

seriously mate - no offense but to invest such a large sum of money on something was a bit silly

its like someone who cant drive buying a ferrari

will you look in the manual already, it is literally all there....

this is the truth

5 minutes reading saves hours of stressing from my experience

just read up, take your time, then learn how to overclock because that board deserves it

i am reading and slowly putting together everything. I hope I will be able to connect everything.

for the fact "buy a ferrari when you can't drive etc"....

i know that this is not a normal system and would be great for overclocking etc....but this is how i do things. I prefer to buy the best and keep it for longer, instead of buying a new pc everytime.

this will stay as it is for another 2-3 years hopefully...

It isn't complicated, refer to the manual and you'll be done in less than 10 minutes. The board is near identical to the P5K.

I understand what you are getting at, but I think they are just trying to make the point that if you had done some more research, or perhaps ordered a pre-built system it might have been a better solution for you. As if you are not planning on overclocking the system at all it is a waste of a good motherboard, regardless if you do it now or in 2 - 3 years (in which case that mobo will definitely be obsolete).

things that plug in the mobo:

- Reset Switch/Power/LED
- firewire 1934 cable if your case has firewire on the front
- Same thing with USB and audio jacks at the front
- Mobo 24pin power
- CPU 8pin power

The Reset/Power/LED are small 2 holed cables that fit near the sata ports, if it dont work try fitting it the other way round.

Thats all there is. Then you fit the usual SATA's, GFX Card, RAM, etc.

If you haven't done this before with the P5K then the manual will tell you which pin is positive on the board (or Asus Q-block thing for your board) and on the connector from the case the one with the small downwards black triangle on the back is positive (it is usually the coloured wire but no guarantee). With the power and reset switch the polarity doesn't strictly matter (as it is only a switch) but the LEDs it does matter.

When hooking these up make sure you connect the wires properly, if you don't you can burn out the header or the USB devices you connect to it! There aren't many connectors that this will happen (it tends to work or it doesn't) but improperly connected USB headers can and do cause damage. If in doubt, don't bother connecting them (I don't even use mine).

i am really sorry guys but I can't do it. English is not my mother tongue and I find really difficult to understand the mobo instructions, plus everything seems too complicated. Is there anyway from OC staff that can tell me if you guys can put it together? please, otherwise when I'll have finished assembling my pc will be obsolete.

I really don't want to waste hours of nothing trying to put together the pieces.

Or, I repeat if there is somebody that can come and do it in my place i will be very happy to give you some money for the help.

I know that i sound like an idiot but i can't do it on my own,

Apart from the front panel the connectors are keyed or have notches, you physically can't plug most of them in the wrong way around. You don't have to do much reading in English, to put it together!

Heck, you managed to install a stock heatsink with pushpins, that is the hardest part imo!

what isn't connected merdarion? Tell us, and we will gladly show you what to plug in.

The more you help us, the more we'll be able to help you.

And I doubt anyone is going to be able to just goto your house, unless you ring a specific pc engineer near you to come and do it.

that is the plan in fact.

ok let's do this, tomorrow i'll take all the pictures and post them here, hopefully we will be able to sort this out....

Yep post pictures and tell us what you need help with.

What state is the computer in at the moment? How far have you got?

There can't be that much for you to do?

i linked the sata, all the usb and firewire, the fans of the case.

now I need to link the dvd player to the mobo and the alimentation.

tomorrow I'll post all the pictures.

If I get stuck i'll send it to you beginning of next week sarf.;)

Merdarion, what id suggest is you baught a little POS rig that you dont care what happens to it, and use it to practice taking apart and putting back together.. this way you can firmiliarise yourself with the different components, where different leads plug in etc etc :)
