Help with audio? Nobody I've asked has any idea what's going on..

Understood.

I'm running out of ideas now, have to think it's either driver related, or an issue with the motherboard.

One thing you could try. Is buy a sound card, and disable the on-board in the bios. The quality of on-board is not great even when it's working.

For example I use Asus Essence ST and Essence STX II sound cards - the difference in audio quality compared to onboard, it's like comparing £20 dac, compared to £500 separates CD player.

I guess since the microphones are USB, I would need an adaptor from USB to jack for these sound cards to work right?

The microphones are totally separate from the output. So you just plug the USB microphones in as normal, then set your sound card as output.

For example for me. I use a Blue Yeti that's USB, plugged in normal way, then STX II is sound output only.

Thank you! I will try and find something affordable and urgent

Manage to find one? This one has intrigued me and if the sound card is a no go I'll have a think and maybe make some other suggestions

Hi sorry, I bought a soundcard (Creative Blaster Audigy Fx 5.1) but haven't installed it yet as I didn't find the time!

Once I do i will reply here (most likely tomorrow)

No problem, intrigued to see how this goes, fingers crossed for you

Unfortunately, nada. Installed the new card, and the drivers, made sure that my devices show only the new one and not realtek plus disabled the HD audio controller from the BIOS but it's still going on.

I've already ordered a new PC that I will be swapping some components for (e.g. bought **** RAM so I can put my existing good one in)

That's totally nuts. Zero idea what's causing it now.

On the plus side, you do have a sound card that will produce better audio than the on board.
